  1. Nice Job Rick! Thanks for the report and see you at Wilson this weekend.
  2. Thanks for the report! You know we're getting spoiled when we think these are skinny fish.
  3. Thanks for the report! Nice job. I'll be there next weekend to start my season. I see there is only one boat in the marina from the marina webcam. I'll make 2.
  4. This was his dad!
  5. Well, I finally annoyed the mother raccon enough that she took her kits and moved them out of my boat. Now our spring friend decides to show up like he never left. Thankfully he's too big to fit in the bow. It's nice to see him around, but I still jump a little when he walks up and nudges me in the dark.
  6. Nice One!
  7. And the MOST disturbing part is that the large majority of people learn what to think and not how to think. This has always been true. Feeding this propoganda to our children is more than criminal because they will always believe it!
  8. I haven't fished Erie in several years, but I remember catching 50-100 bass a day and they were BIG (20+" fish were common). I used to fish out of North East and target the area around the W's. There's structure there in 10-40' of water and that's where they were (on Erie a 2' bump is structure). I can remember that color made a big difference day to day. I had tube lures in at least a dozen colors and on any given day they might only want one of them. Try adding scent to the lures also. Some days, the drift bite would be dead but trolling triggered the strikes. Lat thought; A lot of people pounded those fish while spawning and I'm sure that didn't help the population in the long run. That could be the real issue.
  9. I heard that only works if the music is Rap or Hip Hop!
  10. Congrats and Good Luck on the name. I've been working on a name for a year and every one that I like, my wife hates.
  11. I assume you did the honorable thing and kept fishing! I had a guy with me once at Chincoteaque that gave the rod a good yank in 5' of water, missed the fish, and set the 4/0 hook straight down into his lower lip. I pulled the minnow off and cut the line and he refused to quit. After about 1/2 hour of looking at him with a cigarrete in one side of his mouth and a nice silver hook hanging out of the other, I told him we're done and headed in to the doctor.
  12. Well, I finally got caught up at work and was looking forward to a day out on a local lake. I took the plastic cover off of my boat and pulled it up to the house to charge the battery and check the boat over. When I took the canvas cover off, I found that I had a guest onboard with babies. She wasn't willing to leave and I wasn't going to push the issue. At least it looks like she put Stabill in for me.
  13. GAMBLER is right on the money. Everyone is out by daybreak and usually off of the water by 2:00. I've had some incredible days in the afternoon/evening, especially in spring. If there happened to be clear skies AND a full moon the night before, the evening bite the next day can be great.
  14. Thun, As Don said, you need to call Customs at that number before you enter Canadian waters. You do not need a passport as long as you don't step on land. Once the call is made, you're good for that day.
  15. Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking forward to finally being in Canadian waters legally. There ought to be an alarm on the GPS!
  16. My 9.9 Honda pushes my 26' boat with ease. Never had a problem and starts quickly every time. Do yourself a favor and get a prop guard for it. The currents can be wicked on the lake and blow your rigger cable into it even if it's feet away.
  17. I'm planning to get a Canadian license this spring and make a couple of trips from Wilson over towards St Catherines. I've been told that when the salmon can't be found at the bar in the early season, you can find them in the Canadians waters. My question is how far do you typically need to run westward beyond the Niagara? I've also been told that it is easier tying up in Youngstown than running back to Wilson. Who do I contact there for an overnight slip? Thanks, Doug
  18. I saw a picture a a 4' fish caught out of Wilson during the tournament last spring.
  19. Happy Easter to All!
  20. If you have several twists or shrink wrap on it, it shouldn't be a problem. I shrink wrap mine to keep from being concerned.
  21. In addition to length, consider the height of the sides in each model. I have an 18.5 aluminum that I used to use on Ontario and it became extremely difficult to fish in 3-4' waves because the sides weren't high enough to lean against and we would literally crawl on all fours to rig or get around. The additional 2' doesn't seem like much, but it can make a significant difference, especially if the side rails are higher. You'll also get tossed around somewhat less which can be a big plus when fishing rough waters all day.
