  1. Gift is not necessary - after all the unit may not work. Remember me when you do the Beckman net thing later. I'm pretty sure I will want in on it.
  2. I had a Bert's holder that had a screw that broke on a hit over Labor Day weekend. Called customer service and they said to send it back. Put it in the mail on a Monday and a new rod holder showed up on the porch on Friday. All I wanted was the old one to be fixed. Great customer service there.
  3. I should learn to read. Maybe then I wouldn't make you put you info down twice. Daughter works again on Wednesday. Will send you info then.
  4. Message me your contact info. My daughter works at a post office. I will ask her to get me the shipping cost and let you know.
  5. I've got a head only for a Lowrance X-85 that I do not need and would be willing to send to anyone who needs it. The xducer is epoxied to the bottom of my hull and the plug on the power cord is no good so I'm not really interested in pulling it out. The whole unit was replaced with a Furuno FCV-585. If anyone needs a head that worked last time it was used and is willing to pay for a "if it fits it ships" box from the post office, it yours.

  7. I had that happen to me 35 years ago on a PA 7 point. I shot the deer on openng day just after noon with my then 7 year old son along with me. The deer fell and we approached from behind. I touched the hind quarter with my rifle muzzle and the buck jumped and ran. There was a blood trail, so son and I went back to our stand and sat for a half hour. We then blood trailed the buck about 80 yards through some scrub pines and found him lying dead down the hillside. Thanks for posting. It brought back a pleasant memory I hadn't had for a while. I'm taking my grandson with me Monday on opening day of PA rifle season to make more memories.
  8. One of our best combos last season was a 42nd spinny with a moonshine smitty fly.
  9. I used to think I knew how to sharpen a knife until I got a worksharp. Now I know what a really sharp knife is.
  10. I've used these before: http://www.wholesalemarine.com/marinco-battery-direct-connect.html?gclid=CPe7k97v67oCFS4aOgodQGsA6w
  11. This is our setup for the Chesapeake Bay. For Lake O we add a pedestal to mount an out-down rigger. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  12. Picture was there and then it went away. I will try something else.
  13. I ran 48" tracks between the two sets of gimbal mounts. I put a downrigger in the back gimbal and a rod tree for the boards in the front one. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  14. I've read there are plans but no money.
  15. Son and grandson will take care of "our" stuff.
  16. My first NFL game was October 3, 1953 to see the Pittsburgh Steelers host the NY Football Giants at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. I was only 5 years old - it was my birthday - and my Dad and Uncle Max thought it would make a great birthday present. There are still a few things I remember - like the uniforms on the Steelers, the wood goalposts and the Giants quarterback - Charlie Connerly. Not much else except the Steelers won.
  17. As a Steelers fan I feel your pain. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  18. Nice. Hope some of those fish make a run up the Chesapeake around Thanksgiving.
  19. I took the BoatUS online course because I have BoatUS insurance and they offered a 10% discount if I had a boating safety certificate. I thought the 6 hours invested was worth the savings.
  20. What worked best in 2013 - FLT King of Sting What worked in 2012 and again in 2013 - Moonshine Carbon 14 What worked in prior years and not so much in 2013 - Caramel Dolphin
  21. Is it something as simple as a relay? If so it might be just a few dollars and a few minutes to repair. My 1992 100 hp Johnson burns out a relay periodically and the change is simple and relatively quick.
  22. I had coated cable that was on its third season when we got wrapped by a big king and about two feet of coating got badly nicked. I couldn't find a replacement coated cable so I went to the Torpedo cable. I could not get it to work right so I sent my wife to Buffalo to get a spool of coated cable and changed it back. I guess I really don't know what I am doing with the torpedo cable, but I didn't like it.
  23. Back button does not work on my desktop using IE on XP but does work on my laptop using Firefox on Windows 7. Also works fine on the mobile app. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app Age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm.
  24. Our best spoon this season was a Finger Lakes Tackle King of Sting - mostly in the standard size but it also took some shots on the mupped up magnum. Next best was Moonshine's Carbon 14.
  25. We made five trips between August 1 and September 8 for a total of 17 fishing days. We measure a good year two ways. First it was a good year because we could fish at least part of every day we were there. Can't beat that. Second we caught fish every day but one and we had three runoffs that day but couldn't keep anything hooked. Another measure of a good year. We are already planning for next year.
