  1. Our location shifted - looks like we'll be at Selkirk Shores instead of Fairhaven. Might have to break out the noodle rod and fish for a few on the Salmon River.
  2. Cool. Post how it works out.
  3. Good question, I've been wondering the same. I was in a tackle shop in Maine yesterday looking at a wall of those (Storm, I think), wondering if I could use them straight off the back for trout or salmon back on Lake Ontario. Stocked up on line, swivels and trebles instead.
  4. Nice fish, Rob. I missed out this weekend, wandering New England eating lobster.
  5. Post a report if you make it out, Chris. I should have occasional internet access while I'm bouncing around New England next week.
  6. Still down. You can't get past the home page: http://www.atommiktrollingflies.com/
  7. I've never been to Captain's Cove. I'll have to stop in the next time I fish out of Sandy Creek.
  8. I'll be there July 23rd & 24th. Maybe we'll get lucky and time the kings right.
  9. Anyone know the current fine for an extra pole?
  10. Nice job! I haven't been brave enough to try Sandy in my kayak yet but I've got a buddy that does well there in his.
  11. Deaf Fisherman's back home in Massachusetts, fishing for stripers. Had a PM from him last week...
  12. We did the same - went out with Capt Rob Westcott on Legacy for spring browns in April, learned a lot and had a ball. I've done a lot of reading on this site over the last six months and am just starting to understand how little I actually know.
  13. Nice one - I'll have to try changing the tilt to see what effect it has on our speed. I've noticed that it changes quite a bit when one of us moves from our seat to the stern as well.
  14. Legacy just posted one (with a bunch of other choices).
  15. Synergy - the total is greater than the sum of the parts. I fished with Rob this year (see his 4/30 report) and he was great, working eight rods firing faster than he could get them reset.
  16. It was down to just a couple inches over the three or four feet closest to shore. I was fine walking through in my hiking boots Sunday morning. Both I-Bay and Sandy have standard red/green buoys marking the channels. I thinking Sandy is at 9ft and I-Bay about 14ft.
  17. S & R Bait and Tackle on Culver in Seabreeze Although not Rochester, B - E Fishing Tackle off Route 104, just into Ontario
  18. Nice report - I'm surprised at the browns this late in the season. I live near the north end and did well late this spring closer to Ellison Park. I have to get out for a little carp fishing after work one of these nights - always fun on a noodle rod with 4 lb test.
  19. Also good on the 4th for firing M80s across the Alleghany Reservoir down by the Kinzua Dam. So I've heard...
  20. Pretty similar, actually - it's an older 18 ft aluminum Starcraft (deep v) with a Merc Force 125 and a trolling plate. We can get down to 1.5 but running anywhere from 2.0 to 3.0 takes constant throttle adjustment - we're considering trolling bags. We had a hell of a time Sunday keeping any kind of constant trolling speed - we ran east (ish) with the waves and then NW into them - & turning was scary. With no VHF yet, we didn't want to head deeper.
  21. I think you and I are doing the same reading, at about the same time, on this site (which is terrific, by the way). I think I'm fishing out of a smaller boat though which is going to restrict what we can do. What are you fishing out of?
  22. Chowder mentioned that in one of the other slider threads - "I like to slip a bead on my main line b4 I tie on my snap swivel - that way when the slider gets down there it doesn't fetch up on the swivel and start to wrap."
  23. Read the post "Spiny water fleas" from last year for all the details. They're an invasive species that seriously gum up your gear and they should be showing up within the next week or two.
  24. The waves were too much for us. We launched after the rain passed over and made a few passes at 15 & 30 ft with nothing to show for it except one lonely alewife that must have thought it was a trout. Should have stayed in bed...
