  1. B&E on 104 had some a few weeks ago.
  2. They were parked in the main lot on Westphal at the Parkway. I saw the pile of glass there this morning.
  3. Batter up!
  4. We're very new and don't take things too seriously. I've seen plenty of honest reports though and received tons of help, advice and hospitality from LOU members. There's some great folks here...
  5. +1 on the Keating books and videos.
  6. So would I. We started with Deeper Divers but just added a pair of slide divers. Haven't used them yet though...
  7. Thanks anyway. If we make it out, I'll post any results.
  8. Bid difference of opinion on that. I have the nine foot Depthmaster with the Convecter 30D because with the rod holder flat, it keeps the wire away from the rigger rods. I fish out of an open bow 18' Starcraft though - I can easily move forward in the boat to assist netting. I've read good things about shorter rods giving you more control over a large fish but don't have any personal experience. I'd love to try one of the shorter Fish Doctor roller rods some day.
  9. Captain Larry - we're thinking of targeting pike/musky for the first time (catch & release), just for something different. If we hit Conesus in the next few weeks on a weekday morning, what's the esox for dummies approach? All I know is to work the edges for bass and hope for the best...
  10. The lure will run at about the same depth as the diver. The diver will run deepest and closest to the boat on a zero setting, shallower and farthest from the boat on a six setting. Are you running the diver without a ring, with a small ring or with a large ring? Larger ring = more resistance = deeper running. Are you running mono, braid or wire? Wire runs deepest, mono runs shallowest...
  11. Only made it out from 9am to noon and all we found was sun and crystal clear water, not a spot of color. We trolled North from 15 to 75 fow without marking a fish, running sticks on the boards and two riggers. Came back in (SE heading) to 20 fow in front of Shipbuilders and found some fish between 30 & 45, leveled out there westbound and tried everything we could think of (forgot the wire rods though) without moving a rod. Beautiful day but we left with the fish mocking us...
  12. I run as a diver rod, paired w a Convector 30 linecounter & it works great.
  13. I think clear water was the issue today east off I-Bay. We ran from 15 to 75 & no colored water. Marked a few fish between 30 & 45 and tried every trick I could think of without ever getting hit. Wonder if anyone claimed the planer board rescued at the Genny?
  14. Wait til you catch a 20 lb king on one!
  15. I use a Garmin Dakota 20 & freeware 20ft topo maps for hunting. Works great fishing for waypoints, speed and heading from the back of the boat but no lake maps (still looking).
  16. I just started running Harvey's 12lb torpedos this season and I'm pleasantly shocked at how little blowback I'm getting compared to 10lb ball weights. We switched to Black's releases too, no more tail-steering the weight when we crank down on the rigger poles. We've been running in 6 - 20 feet of water at this point but should run deeper soon - I want one of those random 20+ kings that have been showing up... Great product, Harvey.
  17. I met my wife in Gloucester. I'll have to look into fishing trips the next time we're back visiting - she's got friends and family from Hampton Beach down to the Cape.
  18. Mason, AFW, Torpedo, Blood Run - there's only maybe half a dozen choices for 7 strand, 30lb trolling wire. A twilly tip is less than 10 bucks and easy to install.
  19. had the same problem yesterday afternoon out of Sandy Creek in Hamlin. Windy but out of the southeast so the waves weren't bad. Thought we'd manage a few and all we got in three hours was a single hit that gave one shake & was gone.
  20. The top two, depending on the size of your spoons (and collection)... http://www.lakemichiganangler.com/store/Special_Mate_Tackle_Box.htm
