  1. Mmmmm. Had venison for lunch - might need salmon for dinner!
  2. Great boat - that's what we fish out of.
  3. You are thorough. Not surprised at the quality of your lures...
  4. That's about the same setup we have and it works great. Jimski2's right - I hear very little chatter on the vhf and use my cell to text for feedback, when I can. You'll be surprised how often your cell gets no signal within sight of shore. We got the vhf so we can yell for help if needed. The weather changes out there on a dime and we've had mechanical/equipment issues before, although never at the same time. Better safe than sorry.
  5. Looking forward to picking up a selection at LOTSA.
  6. Yeah, I never claimed to be smart. That Convector's wound about as tight as possible - works great now that I can tell front & back, left & right on my divers. I messed them up about every way possible the first couple times.
  7. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12150010&kw=tite-lok&origkw=tite-lok We went as cheap as possible, getting a closeout on the triples of these. They work but I'd recommend going better if you can, beefier and with quick-release adjustment.
  8. The fish wins! Explain that one to the insurance company...
  9. Not at all. I added a twilly tip to mine right at the start but even that's not needed if the wire doesn't start scoring the tip guide. Some guys swear by roller rods but I've never had the chance to try one.
  10. "...let all the wire out with a pound lead ball or tripped diver..." No wonder! I rigged my first wire rod last season, as Tim describes, but I cranked the release down so the diver didn't trip, let it out to 950 and reeled it all back under tension. I hurt for a week!
  11. We made it out from Sandy Creek in Hamlin last year on March 19th.
  12. I stopped in during the Naples Grape Festival and they were out of many sizes but I grabbed a few. No idea if they've restocked since...
  13. THERE he is. We're all jealous, Ray...
  14. We've been running the Laurvick releases for two seasons but are looking to try something new this season.
  15. Cool. I can run Vimeo thru my BluRay and watch on the big screen. Thanks, Rob.
  16. I use a 30D for wire and like it. Haven't been spooled yet but came close once.
  17. He's on the Live Chat regularly. Said Wednesday was 79 degrees...
  18. The 20D will definitely work but a good fish might be able to spool you. I'd go with the 30D if you can.
  19. Now you tell me; I thought it was something we were doing wrong. We have one with 19 strand wire and one with 7. No major issues with either but I have had to cut and retie the 19 a few times because of broken strands within a foot of the swivel. We've lost a couple hundred feet due to operator error and will replace with either Torpedo 7 smoke or Blood Run (on Captain Rob's recommendation).
  20. Still looking to pick up a used copy of the Precision Trolling: Big Water Edition (hint, hint) but we've been copying Captain Rob since we started two years ago. Any equipment failures have been self-inflicted (and highly entertaining, after the fact).
  21. I usually get mine from Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Flash-Memory/SubCategory/ID-68 Cheap, fast and free shipping...
