  1. The dvds provide the same information as the books but don't go into the same level of detail. They're shot on his boat while fishing, demonstrating the various techniques and equipment. I'm more of a book learner and picked up both books last Christmas season when they had a sale (posted here actually, search for the one post by user "Dan Keating"). I bought the dvds later for my fishing partner to watch since he's more of a visual learner. I thought the dvds were a good compliment to the books.
  2. Yankee Troller recently said that they've used the Saltists for a couple seasons now and like them a lot. Search for the post, he was selling a couple used 30s.
  3. Here's some additional information: http://www.waynepost.com/feature/x1665833201/Two-charged-following-boat-burglaries
  4. Man, I've seen too many horror movies. Imagine those things cranked up & hunting in packs...
  5. I found the same in Webster when I as a teenager - a giant buck by the creek I was fishing, with no head. Made me sick and that was ten years bfr I started hunting big game.
  6. I was west of you in Rushford this weekend. All the deer sign you could want but no one saw as much as a single deer during shooting hours.
  7. Hunting somewhere west of Pavilion this weekend and looking for some karmic payback for passing on a doe/fawn combo last time out. Been too long since I've had the opportunity to launch an arrow at a buck - high hopes for tonight!
  8. you're right - a twenty pound bag would be about right! Sorry - I was thinking of the Fujifilm HS10 digital camera, although the approach might still work if you soaked a circuit board and it's removable. Works wonders...
  9. Who would have predicted that super-low water levels would suddenly be a good thing? Glad things are good - might hit my favorite tribs tomorrow and see what the new water levels are like.
  10. Replacing parts usually runs about 70% of the camera replacement cost, $140 vs. $200. Had the same problem two years ago with the SD1100, my wife and a canoe trip. Throw it in a bag of rice for a couple days and hope for the best.
  11. No not 4 us. I'm sitting on the Hudson though, right in its path. Hope to ride the storm home on Tuesday... [ Post made via iPhone ]
  12. Ditto. Hunted Albion/Barre area Sunday & had a large deer stomp through 20 minutes before sunrise, 45 yards out. I passed on a doe/yearling pair that hung out from 5:15 to 5:45pm, hoping they'd draw in the big 8pt that keeps showing up on the game camera. Found out back at the truck that at 5:30pm, he'd been on the other side of the property, chasing a doe at full speed. He blew by both the guys I was hunting with - too fast, out of range and fixated on that doe. Just when things are getting interesting, I've got to head out of town for a wedding
  13. That's great, Bill. Here's to Chuck the Buck.
  14. Good - that's where I'll be tomorrow
