  1. Most of the pictures of pier-caught fish here show they're stocked, only a couple with adipose fin intact.
  2. Great Lakes Salmon and Trout Fishing by Dan Keating & Chip Porter http://bluehorizonsportfishing.net/books-and-dvds/book-1.html?99442fec65e0565b58159c3121c2ed84=2b11628a382aecac3e470230af0a3a06 The names and patterns change too fast to make many books. The best I've found is a combination of this site and At The Oak - http://www.attheoak.com/spoons.html
  3. I used to have a 10/22 in .22 magnum and wasn't a fan. Shot accurately but jammed easily.
  4. Ditto, Dreamweaver swivels are great. I'm also really liking the Torpedo swivels so far - at half the price.
  5. From the 9/18 Fish Hawk news: " Business News - We have purchased the assets of the Deeper Diver and TripZ Diver from Walker Downriggers. We'll be launcing a new website for them later this fall, trollingdivers.com. First we're going to work on getting everything in-stock. Beyond that we're excited about adding new technology to divers in the near future." I've been running the deeper divers this season and they've been great. Look forward to seeing what they do with the product.
  6. Funny - thought it was just me
  7. You only own 66 - all of them! For storage, I'm leaning towards the spoon keeper with the vinyl cover like what Captain Rick has posted. Keeps them organized, in view but out of the way: http://www.dreamscometruecharters.com/
  8. MUP rigs...
  9. I have this one loaded on my Garmin handheld - works great: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/111/
  10. I've seen the same in the hills around Bath, NY - pickup truck, 4 guys in the back, (in camo, for some reason), slow cruising the farm roads just before dusk.
  11. Would that work for skein as well? Also, is it better to leave the eggs in the fish until you get it home or should you pull them at the river and place in a container with river water?
  12. 60 spoons? You've got some work to do!
  13. I Googled a birthday limerick for you, Hank: "This crew's providing some cheek: They make it like you're an antique! I don't think you're that old When you get there, I'm told You'll know, when your joints start to squeak!"
  14. I think I'll give it a try too if I manage to make it out and catch one. I've still got a dozen sacks frozen that I purchased locally last year but I'd like to do it myself. I keep forgetting to grab a gallon of distilled water but I bet dehumidifier water would work just as well.
  15. Last couple of conversations.... viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35316&p=211991#p211991
  16. You're not going to get a high retrieve rate cheaply and you're probably still going to have to pump the rod. Joe's choice is a good one; so's an Okuma Clarion with a Classic Pro GT rod.
  17. Yep - they pick up a chemical (something word like Carotene?) from their diet and lose it when they stop feeding. * Found it - "Wild salmon become pink by eating sea creatures like krill, which contain a carotenoid called astaxanthin"
  18. Fished East Bay down by Davenport's on Saturday and found no perch. Tied up a bobber rig and had fun playing with the sunfish for the evening.
  19. I think just quitting smoking 5 years ago was the biggest thing I could have done. Neither the car or the house have been smoked in so my gear doesn't pick up that smell.
