  1. Are you gonna mount a backrest on the cooler/captain's chair?
  2. I'd love to do that sometime. Start saving my pennies...
  3. Include a vhf radio And antenna in that list of required equipment. I've fished charters out of Sandy Creek with both of these captains and can recommend either. You'll find them on LOU as well - Legacy and Jolly II. http://www.legacysportfishing.com/ http://www.jollysportfishing.com/
  4. I wouldn't mess with a good thing. My father-in-law lives in Cape Cod and I still haven't tried fishing for them yet, although I was able to send Deaf Fisherman after them last year. He caught some nice ones out of his kayak at the spot I sent him to.
  5. Nope - Devil's Nose is a point to the east of Oak Orchard, at Hamlin Beach State Park.
  6. A good Diawa or Okuma rod/reel dipsy combo runs about $125 new - doubling that gets you an exceptional one. We bought a Daiwa combo already set up, used for $100 and a new Okuma combo that I rigged (about $150 for rod/reel/twilly/wire/swivel). Getting Ray to raid his closet would be big help
  7. Ran into that in the Dominican Republic. Got caught lookin...
  8. Something like 2.5 miles to 200 feet of water vs. 6 miles for the same from I-Bay.
  9. The lead steel is 15.07 - think he'll join the derby before he goes out the next time?
  10. No problem - I live close to there. Bayside Tackle is on that stretch of Empire if you need anything.
  11. North end, at the mouth. Public parking at the boat launch, panfish and bass around the seasonal bridge and off the shore just south of it. South end, not much. You can fish from the public launch at Orchard Park Blvd/Bay Front S (southwest side) or the new little access site on Empire Blvd at the creek mouth. You can also take him about quarter mile east on Empire, park and feed the ducks.
  12. Welcome aboard, Matt.
  13. Which side of the Bay, Irondequoit or Webster?
  14. It's just as frustrating to see ton of good marks if you can't get one to bite. At least without a ff, you could say to yourself "Maybe there just aren't any fish."
  15. There's some nice places on Leroy Island - I drove through there before I left, since I was parked at the boat rental docks. Looked up one that was for sale -
  16. It's not unusual to run two dipsies per side and two riggers (with or without cheated spoons). Just run the dipsies on different settings and depths to keep them apart - 1 & 2.5, 1.5 & 3, etc... Disclaimer - I'm new enough that I'm happy running one per side without tangling anything. I'm quoting my betters...
  17. Could always have them overnight one to you... http://www.kelloutdoors.com/Kell%20Labs.htm
  18. Missed my chance on Sunday to try one mounted on a Talora roller rod. Offered a choice, I grabbed the 300 copper without thinking - what was I thinking?
  19. Nice fish. I'm still working on breaking 20 - I keep handing off the wrong rod.
  20. Bought in London by the captain's wife, no less. Goes with his Captain cap
