  1. The friend I fish with rented the Lure Cottage for his family over the Memorial Day weekend. Not fancy but comfortable - only the one bathroom though. The guy's got four properties there, plus the one he lives in seasonally. The other ones are bigger, fancier and, of course, more expensive: http://www.vrbo.com/my/53679/
  2. As I understand it, the coast guard will tow but they need to consider you in danger or your boat a danger to others.
  3. Still working for mine. Congrats to your buddy
  4. Sounds like you've got your priorities straight, John. You're making a lot of friends as well.
  5. genEus - all you need is balls. The rest will work itself out
  6. Funny - I thought he was too until I saw "(Ray?)"
  7. I've seen a dozen different brands of flasher online and have to imagine that on any given day, all will catch fish. I've never seen a comparison by one person (or group of people), using the same boat and equipment, fishing the same location(s) over the course of an entire season so you get a good data set. Sounds like a charter captain's log book to me...
  8. I like it - thanks for posting the photos. I may make something similar for my basement ceiling to store my growing rod collection.
  9. You've got (some of) the right gear and the boat's good unless you go from 1-3 ft waves to 3-5's. The riggers will work with your spoons and flasher/flies. The planers may not, unless you have a way to get your lure of choice down a bit. Paul gave some good advice. My buddy and I started with a charter - we had a blast and suddenly everything we'd been reading made a lot more sense. We're still not very good but we're learning...
  10. They are slick. fished yesterday in a boat with one and it made a huge difference, even in 3-4 ft seas.
  11. Congratulations to your brother. You've been putting the time in, Chris - good job!
  12. Nice work. Fishing with Tacklebox out of Hughes this am - be interesting to see what the fish are up to out east of I-Bay for a change. Tight lines this afternoon.
  13. Caveat Emptor. I have both books, both dvds & highly recommend all.

  15. Too big to eat, not in the derby, not having it mounted... glad you released it - many wouldn't have
  16. Gonna hurt - do you know the actual weight?
  17. The ones that kill me are when every weather report and forecast says 5 - 8mph wind, waves 1-2 feet and when you get there, you're looking at whitecaps on 3-5 footers.
  18. I'm always prepaid to be dissipated.
  19. I refinanced and painted the house. Could have bought an awfully nice boat instead...
  20. By the time you hit the water, they'll be all fattened up for you.
