  1. I was taught to check the leader after every fish for nicks or line stretch (I use 30lb Big Game mono). We carry a bunch of pre-tied leaders so I don't have to tie new ones on the water. Learned that one the hard way, bouncing around in 3 footers. Why do you retie the wire?
  2. Peanut fly - basically just a dressed treble.
  3. Crumcake is right - I used the wireline knot to tie on a big dreamweaver swivel, which I clip to the dipsy. I don't leave the pole set up when it's stored, but may start if I buy a set of the dipsy holders that Yankee Troller's been using.

I went through Beikirch's in East Rochester a few years back. I think they charged $25.
  5. I grabbed a pack of Storm softbaits that look like 5" gobies. Thinking of trying them for both bass and bottom-bouncing for deep trout/salmon using a torpedo diver on one of our wire poles w fluoro leader.
  6. One even got me through those awful socks.
  7. April 30th, 2011, about 15 feet of water just off Walker Lake Ontario Rd. Hit a stickbait off a planer board while we were trolling for browns on our first charter w Legacy. Haven't seen many results posted for smallmouth so far this season.
  8. Some of the trolling swivels (coastlock, ball bearing) run more than $2 each. Pricey...
  9. We just started running wire dipsies this season. Takes a little getting used to (and knowing your right from your left) but they work great. Good luck.
  10. Use the wireline knot, video located here: http://www.fishdoctorcharters.com/templ ... ctor=video
  11. Too many variables but not very fast - it depends on the real world transfer speed of your equipment and the file size for a 30 min video at your chosen resolution. A class 6 card writes somewhere between 6MB/s and 15MB/s (I've seen 30MB/s claimed) but I don't know what its transfer speed is. The wi-fi standard is up to 300MB/s but that's in a lab, dual channel and under perfect conditions. It's going to be a big file.
  12. Send your pennies - only 8000 needed... 8GB is the biggest. A friend of mine is a photographer and uses it. Pretty cool - he shot the United Booty Foundation fundraiser a few months ago, with the card loading photos to his laptop, which tied into the club's video system. The screens ran almost-live photos as he shot them.
  13. Ditto - second season. We've also been out with Legacy and Jolly II and learned quite a bit but we're still tying it all together. Still need to add down speed and temp for a more repeatable presentation.
  14. Bad sign, starting to repeat yourself... Bad sign, starting to repeat yourself...
  15. Hope so - I'm still looking forward to landing my first >20lb king. Wouldn't mind jumping straight to >30 though...
