  1. I've seen similar gizmos sold on line for $20. Why spend the money?
  2. We're running wire for the first time this season, set up one pole with Torpedo 7 strand and bought one already rigged with Torpedo 19 strand. It's the least expensive and had the highest breaking strength on a wire comparison video posted on Youtube. We'll form our own opinion and go from there. The standby choices seem to Mason and Malin with AFW a close third; torpedo wire is the newcomer on the block. I noticed prices went up 5 - 10% across the board this season for wire.
  3. From what I've read, that's going to create problems for you once the fleas come out.
  4. cool graphics and a pint-sized first mate. Good luck,
  5. From what I've read, most use 30 - 50 lb powerpro, setting up to run up to 600' copper. I've never set up for copper but if you're only running 300' copper, 20lb powerpro might be able to handle it.
  6. No, I've got them on riggers rods with mono. Speaking of a good deal, mine were Craigslist specials. Never break up with a woman and leave your gear in her basement - I got both rods and reels for a total of ten bucks
  7. I have a pair. Great reels but the low retrieve ratio is going to kill you running copper.

  10. Hmmm - buy a single rod replacement rod or six new rod/reel combos? Really?
  11. I vote browns, based on the tail and spot pattern. Don't hold me to it...
  12. Try the PM now. I think I saw Chad mention it just took a post or two bfr you could PM.
  13. What species are you fishing for? Are you fishing in Lake Ontario? What tackle will you be fishing with?
  14. That's the one I used - very easy.
  15. Hank, would you prefer an inboard or outboard for trolling Lake Ontario, assuming roughly identical open-bow 20 footers?
  16. Yep, West or Northwest. I've heard guys say "East is Least, West is Best".
