  1. Thanks, Jeff. From the little digging I did, it sounds like it may be hard to find these days. Rustoleum bought them out a few years ago and it looks like they stopped selling DeRusto in the US. I'll keep my eyes peeled - from what I read, there's nothing on the market quite like it for bonding to bare metal. Speaking of hard to find, I got a kick out of seeing the Jolly release during your slideshow. His son Chris (Jolly II) is a friend of mine and he's been a big help to a new troller.
  2. The wind will affect the inshore water temp, raising it's temp when blowing warmer surface water towards the shore and lowering it when reversed. The warmer water brings the baitfish and they bring the gamefish...
  3. A pair of fat pond pigs...
  4. I'll check that one online sometimes but it hasn't been put back in the lake yet: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=45012
  5. Now that's a mess o'fish. Nice work.
  6. I've read the rule of thumb is roughly 1 foot for each 5 mph of wind. Can't tell you how often I've read 1 to 3 foot waves and found 3 to 5 instead. If you pay to join this site, you'll get most of this stuff on listed on the left of your screen: Coastwatch surface temps: http://www.coastwatch.msu.edu/ontario/ NOAA maps (downloadable .gpx): http://marine.geogarage.com/routes NOAA maps (ordering): http://www.oceangrafix.com/o.g/Charts/G ... harts.html Sailflow wind forecasts: http://www.sailflow.com/windandwhere.iw ... meoffset=0 NOAA wind forecasts: http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glc ... pe=N&hr=-1 Weather: http://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:14551.1.99999
  7. You need kidneys of steel for that ride. Nice catch.
  8. Do you know if they ever started a ten-year cutoff on that? I was up for a bear hunt the Friday before they were supposed to start only worrying about the previous ten years. They threatened to not let me cross bfr changing their minds. That was before the start of the $200 blackmail.
  9. I enjoyed the presentation. Thank you very much. Now, can you make gas $1 a gallon so I can afford to hear Phil next month? Jeff - what was the paint you mentioned for adding the orange stripe on your lures? Something like Rustoleum but not...
  10. Road Trip! Talked myself into it - see you tonight.
  11. Matt - at the rate you're going, you'll be back on the water before I am.
  12. Getting two of these would be the least expensive option I'm familiar with: http://www.atommiktrollingflies.com/torpedo_wire.htm Torpedo's still running about $10 less per 1000' than the other brands, although wire's gone up 5 - 10% across the board since last season.
  13. How do you like the FishGrip? I've been thinking of getting one.
  14. +1 I just spooled my first wire reel, by myself, and as Wes described it would have been much easier with an extra set of hands. It worked out ok but why chance messing up a $40 spool of wire?
  15. Sure, it's always a possibility. That doesn't make it the case in general.
  16. I don't have to worry about getting shot on the job. Keep in mind that whether the laws enforced result in a fine or jail time isn't up to the officer. They're just doing their job.
  17. Bump
  18. Nice work guys,. I was grounded this weekend - my mother in law was visiting.
  19. There's actually not much difference in cost between wire and PowerPro. Even in my limited experience, I've seen a king hit a dipsy 350 ft out and run to over 800 on his initial run...
  20. I see the gills are slit and they're gutted. Do you do that on the lake and run them in the water for a few minutes or just toss them in water in a cooler, then drain the water?
  21. Yeah, that's about what I expected. I've never caught what I'd consider a trophy fish so I'm safe, so far.
  22. Maybe the next time you or Vince get rid of one, I'll have some cash lying around.
  23. Not surprised. The difference between the work you see from guys like Paul and Mike vs. the norm is remarkable.
