  1. Thanks - didn't realize we could run them this early.
  2. I see you were using dipsies. Are you running them on wire, braid or mono this early?
  3. Nice - gotta bookmark McMaster-Carr...
  4. When you say planer line, do you mean that the reel mounted on your planer mast is spooled with heavy mono?
  5. Nobody knows and there have only been a couple posted guesses. I'd recommend keeping an eye on the posted results as your date gets closer.
  6. I-Bay docks are in.
  7. I compiled a list from previous threads here of the most popular spoon choices and used that as a base for my first spoon buys last season. Yes, I'm a big spreadsheet geek. The list stays in the car for when I run across a sale.
  8. We just started using a Cabela's "auxiliary motor connector rod" and it works perfectly - for $32. The cooler's $52 and big enough to hold anything I've seen come out of Lake Ontario: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-Xtrem ... gMethod=rr
  9. The fish pic fish holders would work for self defense as well.
  10. Looks ideal for repelling boarders as well.
  11. Still better than an afternoon at work. Maybe I can get you out on Conesus later in the year...
  12. You must have been in the orange sweater - you were leaving as we came in. Good luck.
  13. Fog fishing
  14. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Forever Young ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):3/19/12 Time on Water:3:30pm to 6:30pm Weather/Temp:54 Wind Speed/Direction:6mph NE Waves: flat Surface Temp: 45 Location: Sandy Creek & west LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated:1 Species Breakdown:brown Hot Lure: caramel dolphin Trolling Speed: 2.1mph gps Down Speed: unknown Boat Depth: 10 fow Lure Depth: 3 fow ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== These two caught something. We trolled to the state park and back with one hit to show for it, spoons on riggers & two sticks per planer. Note to self - put your net together BEFORE you have to land a fish. If you're going to make a silly mistake, do it in a fog bank. Running with no visibility, we had difficulty keeping a steady bearing even with gps and a compass. My first time in heavy fog and I'm not a fan. Settled for some interesting photos and called it a day before we lost the sun.
  15. Yakgrips might work: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/700 ... Grips.html
  16. We just added Titelock triples to an 18ft Starcraft. Make sure the mounting point you choose will give you enough separation from the riggers to get at everything when running fully loaded and net a fish from the side if needed.
  17. That's about the size of the brown that took a Chicken Wing on us yesterday. Sure wish it had made it in the boat.
  18. Ditto for Irondequoit Bay on Sunday.
  19. Yep, should be fine. I got a Okuma Convector 30D trolling combo from Cabela's because I had a gift card - would have been a bit cheaper from FishUSA but cost me cash. Give it a try and if you remember, let me know what you think of the roller rod. I've only used one in salt water.
  20. Ditto. Was hoping to see a report from someone that headed even deeper but no luck. Think we're going to try Sandy tomorrow afternoon.
  21. We just need to be high, is what you're saying....
  22. Mine's great - thank you.
