  1. Not bad, not bad at all. Careful - I think you smiled in one of them...
  2. Let's take a look at the results...
  3. Nice set-up. We're newbies (1 season) in a 18ft 1979 Starcraft Sport with a 120hp Mercury Force outboard and want to add a transom-mounted kicker, connected to the main so it can be steered from the helm. The boat and motor weigh about 2500 lbs. How big a kicker do we need if we want to use it as the primary for trolling and backup if the main dies? A 9.9 seems like overkill with this size and weight; we're looking at a new 5.5 4-stroke. Your link to the Cabela's connecting rods is perfect; we'll probably go there or with Panther Marine. We'd like throttle control at the helm as well - are the main choices Control King or Troll Master? Are we stuck manually tilting the kicker unless we go with a dedicated electric/hydraulic unit, which is out of our price range?
  4. What did he wear when he walked on the water? Jesus sandals, of course.
  5. Boy, have I got some catching up to do!
  6. Should include a set with every used rod & reel purchase ;>)
  7. Neither do I, Nemesis. Didn't stop me from just getting two rods and reels for running wire dipsies this spring. Of course, now I need tackle to go with them...
  8. These overlays come in handy as well, depending on where you fish: http://marine.geogarage.com/routes
  9. The Diawa Heartland dipsy rods are a popular choice. Check out Legacy's "Extravaganza" post for the model numbers - he has a pair of the 47LCs for sale, mounted and spooled with wire.
  10. I just watched a doc on the Discovery Channel on a guy that walked the entire Amazon River, coast to coast. Couldn't believe it when I saw he was wearing a pair of crocs on the dry sections. Crazy AND unfashionable.
  11. I found I still had this bookmarked from last season when I had the same question: http://www.marine-electronics-reviews.c ... e-vhf.html We have an 18 ft starcraft and added a uniden vhf with an 8 ft mast for I think $150 total.
  12. VHF all the way - not expensive, chatter surfing is great but knowing the Coast Guard is just a call way - priceless. Cell is hit or miss.
  13. Stinger, please do. I have the same issue, although smaller, older and cheaper and would like to continue the conversation.

When we've fished with you, we've been too busy catching fish to worry about what you have on the radio.
  15. Exactly. I cropped the shots to post but the trail the buck is on runs corner to corner in the photos.
  16. Saw that in the paper Sunday. It's Saturday, Feb, 4th - "Tickets at the door are $15 for adults and $5 for youth under 16. Gate proceeds benefit Upstate Fly Fishers and the Canandaigua and Seth Green Chapters of Trout Unlimited"
  17. Correct. If perpendicular, you get shots like the following - on a three-shot burst, the first wakes up the camera but you miss your shot, the second, if you're lucky, is like this and the third also misses. If you aim so the trail angles across your field of view, you might get shots like this. He came back through 45 minutes later in the opposite direction; that's the group the last shot was from.
  18. Used a pair of $100 flash Moultrie's for years and never had an issue with deer not coming back. The one black bear I caught in front of my climber was obviously less than thrilled - he's never shown on that trail again but did start crapping IN our one permanent stand. Not thrilled about sharing it with him - Too bad it's not a bear WMU...
  19. Google is a terrible thing... Don't forget Girl Scout cookies, made from real Girl Scouts (to quote Wednesday Addams).
  20. Cool. I'm a former member - might be fun.
