  1. I didn't get a deer but I enjoyed the season. I was able to hunt when I thought I might be laid up and for the first time, I got to see two bucks fighting over a doe. I was never close enough for a bow shot but it was a huge rush. Next year...
  2. It is. He had five people interested in the musky net and already placed an order for those. He can't mix and match nets though - he needs five people that want a Beckman salmon net. Right now we're at three and holding for more interest.
  3. I prefer the other way around. I use warm summer air in the winter to help melt the snow, not that we have any yet...
  4. I settled on a Ranger this fall, just collapsible enough to sling over my back and just big enough to use on the boat too. Check out the deal mostlymuskies is offering members currently for a Beckman net - I'm grabbing one for my buddy's boat since I don't own my own yet.
  5. You want one; you know who you are. It's such a nice net, salmon jump right in - no trolling required. I don't even own my own boat... Disclaimer: I'm not employed by Beckman Nets, Mostly Musky Charters or Capt. Larry Jones. I just can't resist a really good deal.
  6. Ray's yankin' yer chain. You'll get used to him - welcome. It's a great bunch of guys...
  7. Great price, great net. I can wait - spring will be here eventually and deer season's about over.
  8. Thank you, Captain Larry. I'm in if there's enough interest; I can send funds through PayPal. Suggest Husky Musky/King Salmon/ Chinook - BT304263; 30" x 42" hoop & 6ft (+3ft extension) handle.
  9. Those are some good lookin' bass.

Good to know. I'm supposed to join a friend's annual walleye charter on Lake Erie next year.

Due to contaminants or to help the breeding?
  12. Can you mix Musky & Salmon nets in one order to reach the 5 minimum? I'm Scots - half off Retail is heard to resist.
  13. I've got a buddy with a cabin on Moon Lake in Theresa, NY. We'll go up in December/January sometimes and there's a huge population of coyotes there. I've never seen it done but I'm told the locals will occasionally take a road-killed deer, chain it to a 5 gallon bucket and throw the bucket in one of the icefishing holes on the southwest side to freeze in. The carcass will draw the pack out onto the ice - giving the hunters a perfect shot from the nearby cliffs. That's one way to thin out a pack.
  14. The only living things I saw Sunday am were geese, hundreds of them.

Nice fish. I hear they're delicious...
  16. I'm hoping. I'd like a buck/doe combo Saturday morning so I can head to Syracuse for the first round of holiday parties.
  17. Definitely an exotic, so it used to be someone's pet. Was that in the Genesee, near RIT? Fall wouldn't be a problem surviving but it wouldn't make it outdoors through a winter.
  18. LOL - you're right. Russell bought one at Bass Pro the end of last season and is still waiting to try it out.
  19. You heard right - there's no ice yet and that's unusual. You'll be able to fish the tribs for winter steelhead but ice fishing is anybody's guess. I've never done it but one of my friends loves it and is supposed to take me out this year...eventually.
  20. Large population in Birdsall area. Buddy of mine wounded a buck but didn't recover until the following day - half eaten.
  21. Lol - yeah, realized something was off after I posted and hit the DEC website. I'm glad for the extra weekend.
  22. At least you know that if you're attacked in the deer woods by a Kodiak bear, you can defend yourself...
