  1. Been a strange season for me. Saw a few nice bucks during archery but none within range. Had one opportunity at a DMP doe on opening day that I blew and haven't seen a deer since. I'm thankful my back healed enough for me to get out at all but now it's up to the muzzleloader. Looks like Saturday's going to be cold,, finally.
  2. Nice job.
  3. Good job putting the video together. Thanks for posting it...
  4. Probably mine as well. I lost all my gear a number of years ago when my apartment got robbed and I never replaced the handguns. Been eyeing the Ruger Blackhawk and Thompson Encore lines ever since.
  5. Nice job. My first buck was smaller than that - and I'll always remember it. Congratulations.
  6. My wife would trade me for a new iphone - but then who would pay the Verizon bill?
  7. Tom, you've got it right. The stats on your specific reel will tell you how many inches of line you're actually retrieving based on the line size, spool diameter and gear ratio. All things being equal, the higher gear ratio gives you faster line retrieval.
  8. My hunting buddy somehow managed a pass-through with a two blade Rage without dropping his deer. It was a six point at 35 yards and he thinks he hit it high. The arrow was covered in a thick, waxy coat with flecks of blood and bits of hair. Best guess - he sent the arrow through the top inch of two of it's back, missing the spine and passing through the thick layer of lard it's been adding on for winter.
  9. For this argument, I think it's Live Free AND die.
  10. I'm a big fan of the Darwin Awards...
  11. +1. Tom tuned up Charlie's 125 Force this fall (recommended by a buddy in the marine business). Great work and he shocked us when he was done the day after drop off.
  12. Got to see an aggressive eight point bodyslam a smaller six over a doe Saturday morning, just outside of bow range. Four hours later, we lost our access to the property! Never get stuck between two warring parties in an ugly divorce...
  13. Nice. I've taken my mother out of Panama City, Florida, party fishing for red snapper. She and my dad (also passed) used to go out for tuna with the guys from Tyndall AFB, back in the day.
  14. That's a great picture - your dog looks proud.
  15. What area do you hunt? They've been getting pretty bad in Bristol the last few years.
  16. Very cool. Saturday, I got to see a mature buck beat the crap out of a young six point, fighting over a doe. It was amazing to watch but I wish I'd been 30 yards closer...
  17. Shocked it was returned but count your blessings. We've never had our gear stolen from the woods but we did once have a guy demand we vacate his favorite tree - and he was trespassing.
  18. Good luck this weekend. I'll be out near Bath all day Saturday, hoping one of the monster bucks on the trailcam wanders by.
  19. Family in Manchester, NH - just got their power back last night. Good luck.
  20. Any good taxidermist should be able to work from your photos and measurements. You should get some good referrals from members here but also check out Paul Czarnecki's posts on this site for photos of his work or go to his website, www.tristatetaxidermy.com.
  21. Seneca Lake? Never heard of it....
  22. Nice...
  23. Good job, DF. Congratulations on the halibut.
  24. Good work. I've never tried ice fishing but I'm supposed to this year - sounds like fun.
