  2. Nick - count Team So Saarie in again, looking forward to it - awesome time last year. I'm sure you can count on the Hide-A-Way for all the salads and stuff, I will double check and get back to you on that later today. Also, let me know if you want to do t-shirts again.. -Joe
  3. Fish Hawk X-4, without question. I made the switch from Moor to the Fish Hawk last season and wondered all year what took me so long. While not totally unhappy with the Moor, it served me well for almost a dozen years and only had to replece the probe once, I can't say that about the cable, which I had to replace at least once or twice a year. That coated cable always seemed to cause me fits!
  4. Always.....!!!!! once you get your "business in hand", rods start firing!
  5. A lot of great posts here and well deserved thanks. Just wanted to share a quick tid bit on our most awesome experience. Our veteran, Gary, a Vietnam vet who had caught plenty of river run salmon but never had the opportunity to tackle one out on the open lake, looks at me and says - "I can't believe there's guys like you all that would do stuff like this for guys like us..... especially after the "welcome" that we got after returning home. You will never really know just how much we really appreciate all of this.... " I kinda think that sums it up After a few hours of trolling, I felt sort of bad that we were 'only' able to go 3 for 5 with just one salmon, we worked our fanny's off for those few bites. But Gary caught his first ever salmon and (2) steelhead on open waters. On top of that, we enjoyed a lot of great conversation and stories and even a couple cold ones Gary seemed pleased as punch and told us he wouldn't have cared if we didn't catch anything, this meant more to him than any "catching". Puts things into perspective...... To Nick and Theresa (and everybody else involved) - absolutely fantastic job putting this all together, especially in such a short amount of time. Thanks for including us and we're looking forward to next year.
  6. The big day is finally here and looks like we've been blessed with a beautiful day Now lets go get these guys on some drag screaming slobs!!!
  7. The t-shirts are finalized, they're going to be white with the color "Salmon Slam" logo on the back. They will be $10/ea and the order will be going in today or tomorrow. Right now, I have just over 40 accounted for, but will order some extras to have the day of the event. If anyone wants to make sure they get their sizes, post or PM me ASAP.
  8. Please include sizes so I can try to get everyone's in. Thanks again
  9. One more thing guys, any interest in t-shirts for the event? I know a guy that will make them up at a super reasonable cost, it would be a simple screen with a black design (that Nick comes up with) probably on a gray shirt. I'm thinking they would sell for around 10 or 12 bucks and any profit Nick can use towards prizes or simply a donation to Healing Hands. I'd just like to see interest and get an idea as how many to order, sizes, etc....... Thanks - Joe
  10. that's a great idea, I fish out of Oz, never been to Sodus on the open lake. I'd be open to any "suggestions" or helpful hints once we get there. Like Ray says, it's all about getting these vets into some fish. Weather permitting, I'm going to try to fish out there Friday afternoon to get a feel for things. I'm more than happy to share anything I can.
  11. They're holding out for the smack down at the Salmon Slam
  12. great idea with the wash down hose, can't wait to try it on those pesky little buggers
  13. I'm in, and proud to be so I have room for two. Nick - I will keep you posted on any further donations. PM me your number please.
  14. I was up to Oswego this afternoon for work, winds were 15mph out of the NW and the lake look pretty decent, I would have had no problem fishing in my old 19 footer on a day like today, but only you can make that call. You will run into some boat traffic out there though with the A-Tom-Mik Challenge going on tomorrow, but the fishing's been good. Good Luck.....
  15. great reports, fun to read for those of us not able to get out are you finding a temp setting up out there?
  16. OK, now back to the original question, How Long Will It Last? I've been wondering the same thing. I've only been fishing Lake O. for 15 years and have never seen kings like this in April/May. It really has been truley unbelievable on the east end. Do you think there will be the June "transition" or will the salmon stick around all summer? I know, it depends on the bait fish, just can't imagine it staying this good that long. I'm interested in everyone's input
  17. haven't heard of anyone targeting browns recently as the salmon fishing has been crazy insane out there. In 9 hours of fishing over three days, we did in the neighborhood of 35 / 60 on kings, most between 80 and 150 FOW. Would have way increased our ratio had we one more person on the boat, but with just two of us, had to make some sacrifices That being said, you should be able to find some browns in your depth range east of the harbor or west around Camp Hollis Good luck out there
  18. great job, had similar numbers this past Tuesday. In 2 1/2 hrs fishing, nearly 40 hookups, with only two of us on the boat, it was an absolute circus Best day ever had on the lake. Hope it's still going this weekend
  19. has anyone any experience with this yet? suppposed to resist kinks and more pliable. I've always run Malin 20lb w/o much of a problem, but have two new rigs to wire up and was thinking of trying this stuff. I realize that the 19 strand likely won't run quite as deep seeing as it's 30lb and will have to adjust. any thoughts?
  20. No, it's its own downrigger unit
