oh.... and turn a lot space permitting, I try to avoid the straight line trolls, I take a lot of bites on a turn

so many variables.... speed, what you're towing, your line, etc. My VERY GENERAL rule of thumb - with 20lb wire at a 2.5 setting and a down speed of around 2mph (MOOR), I figure around a 3:1 ratio. Not an exact science, but I'm usually in the vicinity and taking shots

We did very well out of Oswego this evening, fishing 3:30 - 7:30pm. Went 7/12 with 4 over 22lbs, biggest 26. Same depths as Spike mentioned. Lost an absolute PIG right at the net, but that's OK, we'll get him tomorrow when the LOC starts Our hot rod was a ten color core down the chute with an 8oz dropper, pulling a green e-chip and A-Tom-Mik sweet pea. Biggest surprise was a decent steely that smashed the wire while I was bringing it in to switch lures - almost pulled the rod right outta my hands, needless to say, that combo stayed out

Haven't been out myself, but what I've heard from guys on the water is a FEW fish are being taken inside the harbor and the temps outside are way down. A buddy told me he was getting 70 degrees on the bottom out to at least 200 FOW. Also a few reports of some fish in the river. Doesn't this seem to happen to Oswego every year?????

I'm new to this site and LOVE IT!!!! Great information for those of us that only have a day or two a week to pursue our passion and count on a few reports to give us a starting point on depths, temps, etc.... but, call me stupid, I still have no idea on how to post the "trip overview" or "fishing results" on a reply (or I would). Again, I'm new and still trying to navigate my way thru this site, but all I do is simply scroll to the bottom of the topic to the 'quick reply" and post whatever teeny tiny bit of information I have to offer! That being said, I quick THANKS to those who don't mind sharing their experience and knowledge with those of us with limited time to fish. Oh, and by the way bloodshot......please, please, please don't take my beer away!!!

I had the exact same results both 8/31 and 9/1, couldn't find anything they wanted to eat even though there were quite a few fish caught all around us. Headed out again this afternoon.....

fished Oswego 8/25/afternoon, picked up one juvenile - wonderbread spinny w/ hammer fly. scattered fish with boats picking a few here and there. worked 100-160 FOW straight out and temp was mid 40's down 20.

Was up to Chaumont from 8/12 - 8/15 for the Nick Bergman Memorial Derby. Fishing tough to say the least. Pre-fished Friday with nice waters and only managed one 3.5lb smallmouth from Guffin. There was one group of boats off the north side of Cherry Island perch fishing, but didn't see much action from them. Saturday and Sunday were blow off days for me with very strong winds. The Derby winners on Saturday were a 4.6 smallmouth and a 4.4 largemouth, not real big fish, but the conditions were horrible. All in all the Derby was a success though, a good time with a lot of money raised for the Galisano Childrens Hospital
