Sodus 6/20
Ryno23 replied to rdebadts's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Glad somebody caught something in Sodus. I managed 1 laker. Fished from 6:30 to 11:30. Was a tough day for us. Fished shallow, deep, east, west. Couldn't get anything to go. -
I have my boat up at Sodus this year for the first time and I'm looking to meet guys that want to fish. I live near the Corning NY area and just looking to meet new people to take fishing. If interested just shoot me a PM.

If u could only have one
Ryno23 replied to monkeyman2269's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Just from a guy who started this about 3 years ago and some of the best advice I got was tune in your Riggers and Dipsey's and hone in your boat driving and turning before even trying Leadcore and Copper. As I was going trying to do it all at once also, it can be very confusing at times. Plus, not sure how big your boat is or what your beam size is, running alot also cause bigger messes then its worth (and with copper can get expensive). Get confident in your tackle selection, do that by good'ole fishing time. I'm now just starting to get confident in my spoon selection and F/F Combo's of what I put down there on certain days, as I still struggle to catch fish on spoons at times. This year will be the first year I get a Leadcore setup and start trying that, plus going to start learning meat rigs this year also. Just take it one step at a time, just some advice take it or leave it. -

Sodus 5/25/15

This is my first year fishing Sodus, so I really dont have much information about it as I'm learning it myself. I was going to target browns when I went out at first, but that plan changed when I hit the water for whatever reason.... The bite has been slow for us, so going for browns might be a good idea in the morning but I really couldnt tell you where to find them yet till I start fishing Sodus more and more. Sorry. -
Screen was WAY better this week for me then last week, was actually marking fish compared to the blank screen last week. Got out about 6:30am, went alittle west from the shoot, setup in 60ft of water, was SLOW in the morning didnt move a rod till about 9am. From 9am till about 10:30am we went 5 for 5 with 4 nice steelie's and 1 nice King about 17lbs. Fished 60fow to 140fow, best water for us was 90fow to 105fow, down on the riggers from 25ft to 55ft. Wrapped up about 11:30am, was all Spoons and Rigger day, wire and F/F combo's didnt move. Spoons: Blue UV Tuxedo (Thanks to the Radio Chatter), Orange Crush Gold, KOS, Green Dolphin (2 Fish) Was a decent trip all in all.

Sodus 5-17 AM
Ryno23 replied to Ryno23's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Thanks for the info, and I will take you up on that hail offer..currently my boat name is Sheza (I bought it late last year and havent had a chance to change it). Any info on Brown's out of Sodus you could Provide? Thanks again. -
First Trip out this year, First Trip with the new boat (to me), and my First Trip out of Sodus (docked up there this year) everything this year will be a learning curve fishing Sodus this year for me. Headed west, setup in about 40ft of water didnt really see much on the screen or going on, saw the other boats so trolled towards them. Nothing much going on there either, was a very slow day, wasnt marking many fish or bait anywhere. Trolled with the boats, outside of the boats, all by myself, fished from 40ft to 125ft. Went through spoon colors, F/F colors, fished many depth columns really couldnt find anything to go. Fished from 6:30am to Noon - Ended the day 3/3 with about a 5lb Coho (Frosted Mixed Veggie Spoon), about 5lb Steelie (UV Wonder Bread Spoon), and about a 8lb Laker (Captian V F/F Combo). Still was a great day to fish though and the Boat ran good. Quick question for you guys that fish out of Sodus, What channel do you guys use mostly? Thanks in advance.

Another big board question
Ryno23 replied to Ryno23's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
So the clips don't come off on accident when u are fighting the fish with the shake on the line? -
Think I found my problem. Cap is suppose to have an o-ring to. The bigger o-ring goes there. My cap didn't have it in it for some reason it must have came out.
-
So I think my gasket is going on the probe. Went and changed it to the extra one you get. Now the battery cap won't screw on. strange they would give you the wrong size gasket for the extra one. Anyone had this happen? Got it a few years ago so never thought to change it till probe started acting up.

Be my first year running big boards I don't have leadcore and not get a setup any time soon. My question is if I run out to 30/40ft of water to find the bite will a split shot work getting down to depths? Just curious if that would and how it would effect spoon/stick action? If so weight and distance from lure? Trying to stay away from the dipsey if I can right now. I don't have slide divers. Might have to look into that though. Thanks.

Well I-bay right by sea breeze is a launch. Not sure how high the water is there. But it's rightnext to the lake. This time of year you don't have to worry about the pleasure boaters. I wouldn't recommend launch there in the summer during the weekends. I use to launch my 24fter out if it. Not the greatest but worked.

Question about Running Big Boards
Ryno23 replied to Ryno23's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Thanks to all for the good information. -
Just a quick question about running big boards and lure/line seperation between rods. This will be my first year running big boards, just curious as I dont want to get to crazy right off the bat as to how many lines I run off them. I plan on just starting out with 2 rods on each side, what would be the recommended distance between each setup on the line? Thanks.
