I like the pinicle micro ice reels made of composite and they hold about 90yds of 4lb test. I put 4lb low vis Stren on them as I fish below freezing quite often and it is very limp and builds little ice. These light reels allow for hours of vertical jigging with a pole in each hand. You can even switch the pole in your left hand to a left hand model so when you get a strike on your left rod you drop the right rod and that right hand is immediately available on the crank of the left rod. I like light action 5' 6 graphite rods with a min rating of IM6. Heck quite often you can get IM8s for $30. I do have a jug on my anchor rope so I can toss my anchor and drift/chase larger fish in heavy current situations.

Just got back from Albany. There was a great turnout and there is hope and great effort being spent to repeal The New Gun Laws and impeach Cuomo! If these new laws bother you, make a stand, join us in our fight to right this wrong. I have to imagine there are a few fellow outdoorsmen on here willing to help. Here are a few shots from the Rally. -

How come you want a bunk type trl. verses a roller? I have a Sea nymph 19.5 and the roller trl sure came in handy this year with water levels down. Don't have to go in so deep easy one man ops. Just askin!

I wasn't using shiething under the metal. I used it as a working platform next to the roofing area. The sheithing had 2 x 4 cleats nailed to the underside in the appropriate spot to keep it from sliding down over the purlins. It also had cleats on top to catch tools. It had strap handles so you could slide it across the roof easily. -

Sorry to hear about the woman but better to know now than later. Now you can get a bigger place where it's ok to have a bigger boat in the yard. Plus your a fisherman, lots of fish in the sea. Mortigan, How come you're not gonna use that motor for a kicker? Kickers rule. I trolled 14.5 hours straight one day this year on an 8hp old 80s Honda and didn't run out on a 3.5 gal tank.

I'm thinkin the "EL" in the discription = Electric Start ,but Hey Ya never Know! -
I may be wrong but it appears that his complaint was that he couldn't reel it straight in and it required pumping. This would lead me to think he needs a slower retrieve rate or longer reel handle. Basically a granny gear such as the Penns everyone complains about for copper. The trade off will be the slowness. I think someone mentioned a Power reel handle mod that someone offers for diawas. Someone chime in if they know of them.

Len the last 2 years I had good luck getting those fish laying on the bottom 2 strike by putting flys right in thier face. If it's 75 ft deep I'll run riggers with as much as 80ft out on the counter. When they get in shallow water I run rediculous long leads. such as 100ft back for 25ft of water. 75ft back for 50ft of water. Can only run 2 riggers that way. Sometimes it's hard to get the flasher to go down with 100ft leads and 12ft of water.

Last year we were fishing 300- 500ft blue water."Labor Day weekend" Temp was 115ft down. Was deploying diver with the drag set light/med llight. A little click here a little click there while I was setting up the other diver. When it took off at around 135ft out on 2 setting. It ended up bein one of 5 salmon over 30lb. that week. What it was doing 60ft above temp in blue water land? May be a fluck but ya never know! I've caught myself fishing below the target zone every since I swithched to Walker deeper divers "127mm" I think. They run much deeper than Lurh J mags set at they same settings.
