  1. Bob, I have 2 of them that I converted to run manual like a MAG 10. You have to buy mechanical counters "my main frames were already groved to except them" and 2 reversing switches " center off, momentary down, latched up" which I bought locally at Unicorn Electronics to save $. You just need to drill a hole for the new switch and wire it proper. If I remember right it cost $77 to do 2 of them. I got the cannon parts from fish307 . Erabbit may also have input on how to make them have auto up stop as well though you may need to purchase a PC board.
  2. Chowder! That is a great approach for preseason prep. I should do that exactly but I don't and end up with lots of stuff I don't need and won't use or duplicate stuff I allready have that is hidden in my "Unique Tackle Storage Syst."
  3. He's one from last year that hit a perch jig/rubber maggot 30ft down deadsticked off the bottem while eating lunch. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=19720

I'd like to salute the fisherman of Oak Orchard. Everyone was courtious, made room for each other, no BS even when traffic was thick. I have fished in the "zoo, Pack , circus" in Mexico bay for 10 years and never saw everyone get along that smoothly. All of the fish came from a temp break from 55 to 52. Cold water to the west, Just out side the Break wall. I ran the paddles 65ft behind the ball because I was sometimes only dropping the ball 13ft. Hot ball depth was 18ft. Sun Skunked! Go figure. If anyone had a combo that worked Sun morn I'd like to know ====================
  12. I second that! WTG. I am watching the WX for the wkend and may try my 1st trip ever to the OAK.
  13. WTG Cous!
  14. Thats the grin of Satisfaction. Great story and WTG both of you!!!
  15. Nice report! I have fished the zoo for 10 years from Sandy pond to Catfish Creek. This summer I fell in Love with FairHaven and though we didn't get the volume of big fish, it was so enjoyable. We also didn't fish 12-14hrs a day,but were going out the chute at 5:30 every morn. I plan to hit the bay in 2 weeks. Thanks for the report!
  16. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):1Sep 2Sep Time on Water:8 hr, 5 hrs Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1, 5 Total Boated:1, 3 Species Breakdown: 2 majors, 2 skipper Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.7- 3.2 Boat Depth: 180-240 Lure Depth: 115-135 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Wed. Went straight out to 180, temp was good @ 115, set 2 rigger poles, had a dipsey in my hand when "bam", The port rigger fired with a brand new Grn dot Dolmation SD/ Grn Glo Hammer on it. After a long fight Botherinlaw Ray AKA Barking Squirrel brought in a nice 25.5 lb. This was an early fish as the sun was just breaking the horiz. with fish in the net. Then we fished till 2 in sweltering heat out to 450ft temp upt to 85 dwn, without a bite . Thurs. Ran 9 mile NE, setup in 140, 123dwn. trollled to 210 then straight in to shore. In 160 Star diver went off 250 out Mag with monster ring, peeling line like I hooked a jet ski going the other way, I grabbed the rod, we circled her and landed a 26.5 lb major on blue NBK with Ultra Grn glow fly. Set back up and bam it goes screaming again, Ray fights quite a bit to get it out of the rod holder while it's screaming, then I laugh when he finally gets it out and gives it a 3 jerk hook set. In another 10 sec. or so it comes unglued. Set up again and pick up a skipper Est 22 in., same rod and then another missed screamer that came un hooked same rod. Then picked up another skipper on port rigger. 4 out of 5 bites on the NBK/ Fly, 3 days prior Dolmation/ Fly dominated. Question: Whats your questiments of how deep the following set-up was running?: 9.5 ft dipsey rod, in holder @ 60*angle, 250ft 30lb fireline/10lb. dia. Mag dipsy with "monster ring" set @ 2 setting, pulling 8 in echip stinger with 19"lead a-tom-mik fly speed 2.8 -3.0 average. ====================
  17. WTG, Stanley Steamer is grinning ear to ear!!!
  18. I travel from Binghamton NY and have been fishing from Sodus to Sandy Pond ports for the last 11 years. Am I missing something better out of "Oak Orchard"? What's your opinions Guys?
  19. Thanks for the Positive feedback fellas. I must give my cousin Eddie Rabbit credit forthe Fish tote. He also cast me the 2 12lb cannon balls used on the riggers. Thats cool that the one might be a Coho or CoNook / ChinHo. I've also got to deside if my huge spool of 30 Lb andre pink has gone bad. It's prob 5 yrs old but has always been stored in a white non see-thru bag though it has seen winter temps also.

  21. Picked this girl up in Sodus bay 1st clear ice. Took the spool down to nill twice. Was on a perch rod with 4lb. test line. What an awesome visual through the clear ice that was around 5 in. thick. Plucked her up though a 6 in. hole.
  22. Nice pics. and thanks for the report. Gives me hope as I was skunked out of Fairhaven Sat. 7Aug. northeast 350-650FOW.
