Point Breeze 8/5 /6 and 7
buckboardjr replied to skipper19's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Sounds like you put in a valiant effort! I too had a 25lb king make a mockery out of me when I let him out run the boat outside of the diver/rigger on my Strbrd side that still had a rigger and diver out. He then charged the boat and I ended up netting him in front of my kicked out rigger and diver, right next to the steering wheel 2/4 of the way up the boat. He was still hot and thrashing so I lucked out! -

Just fished Fair Haven for 8 days. It was a slow. Went 14 for 28 bites on the trip. Best day was 4 for 7 all 4 matures. Worst day was the last 0 for 3. Went 3 days without a spoon bite and decided to tie a 15lb leader on and then started getting spoon bites " Moonshine Black Ice 25 back in 52* water, on my chute rigger. Biggest fish was a 27lber. Most interesting catch was a 21lber that hit an old Salmon slammer spoon that I haven't tried in years and it was slider cheated 1/2 way down to 100ft.If it weren't for that fish I would have been biteless that day. The day I had a steady bite they were hitting my deep rigger at 120ft with a green dot SD 7ft. back with an Atomik 503 Green crinkle Glow on while my probe was at 85 in 49* water and spoon at 80. Only had 2 diver hits all week and one was last day when I dug out another old Salmon Slammer spoon! I also threw an old Pro King green spoon on a fixxed cheater the last day and we had a fatty of a steelhead on for 2 leaps then gone. 1st fish of the trip1st Mature of the tripCorned Deer on Rye with swiss cheese, Homemade Coleslaw, Nancy's Sharp mustard & 1000Island DressingCame in at the Finish of a Bass Tourney. The last day of packing I saw that it was ripped to shreds. I looked for a nest but none found. Here's what I found when I got back from my trip and opened up the kicker to drain the carb. It ran flawless for 8 days straight. Got lucky there!Home sweet home!

At least you gave it a Go! -
Don't be afraid to do black dots. The Bullfrog Pro E has been my go to paddle this year. The green dot used to be my Go to!

SPRO swivels for copper HD & Basic
buckboardjr replied to buckboardjr's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Thanks for the feedback fellas! -
I only had one HD SPRO swivel left when I built up a new 400 copper yesterday so I used it between the Power Pro and the copper. I used a more basic 80lb. SPRO swivel between the copper and Leader. My only fear is that the radius bend in the copper going through the basic SPRO is tighter. I did run the copper thru the eye twice. What do you think fellas. Are any of you having good luck with the basic swivels or are they breaking the copper? Thanks Basic: http://assets.academy.com/mgen/26/10114226.jpg HD: https://www.spro.com/v/vspfiles/photos/SHSB-ALL-2.jpg

With a Username like yours you're going to have to pay a little more attention to detail during foreplay and don't be so intense on getting it off!

I varnished plywood, glued packing foam on and wrapped with marine vinyl from cabelas back in 1999. It has held up well with the exception of where downrigger cables have gouged it a bit in the back. I was fortunate to have my mom sew them with My heavy duty sewing machine. Mine are only on the sides though.

Rolmops hit a home run with his statement about being sure you have the correct wire going to the right plug as last year when I was troubleshooting a coolant leak, I induced that very "Extra problem in to my situation. Also be advised when I say to hit that primer when you are trying to get more RPM, I'M saying to do so as a troubleshooting technique. IF the engine is helped by it, then it should be sending you down a path of "lack of fuel" troubleshooting verses ignition troubleshooting. Did you pull the needle valves out for floats? Where the tips, rubber, viton, or steel. The ethanol has been raising heck with the rubber ones causing them to stick.

When you make this statement: "All of my plugs are getting spark. I disconnect wires to test cylinders on water and they all are functioning." Why would you then conclude this statement? : " I have basically narrowed it down to some thing electrical." Seeing spark on each cyl. and also pulling plugs on each cyl. and seeing a change versifies the electrical system is working. Does your engine use a prime function of squirting fuel in to the intake when pushing the key in during cold starts."No Chokes on carbs", If it does, you should have tried that when trying to come up on plane. If it doesn't have prime, get a squirt bottle of fuel and squirt it in to the carbs when trying to come up on plane. If you have tried these two and it didn't help, then and only then would I start chasing a compromised ignition syst.

When I said I had to clean them 3 times, I mean I'd clean them, It would run good for a trip or two., act up again, Clean them again, then finally after the 3rd cleaning of the contamination that I think was being fed to the carb from flaking off the inside of engine fuel lines after the filter, it has been fine since 99.

How off the ball?
buckboardjr replied to stillfishing's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
It's a shame on me for getting in to a rut of running short leads, but My fav. distance for Flasher/Flys has been 7ft. Sometimes I run them close like that to much without experimenting because it has been such a productive distance. This also allows for tighter turns and more action on the flasher. Tighter to the ball the quicker the action. Farther away, the more lazy the action.
