The guys had been fishing out of Hector some place and their boat statrted taking on water and then it cap sized. Does anyone know anything further or who the guys are? Hope everybody is all good

  8. we attempted to launch out of Watkins yesterday and it was all froze up!! So we drove to T falls and tried the fishin on cayuga. We fished for a couple of hours and had one release on the downrigger but that was it.
  9. The fishing is incredible on Seneca this time of year and the anglers that have the endurance to face the harse climate will be rewarded with high numbers of fish, a bag of different species, and some of the largest LLs and browns the lake as to offer. Releasing healthy fish is a must to keep our waters full of these beautiful cold water fish! We will be out there this weekend for sure! Hope to see you guys on the water... we will be in the 18 foot blue fin with the big rod rack and planers out! Good luck to all (although luck is not really needed!!)
  10. With the reel??? haha
  11. I usually head to Fairhaven for those fat spring browns and i take CHALLENGER stick bait, black, silver, purple with some orange or red. Thats been a killer combo for myself and a few others. Thats all we run is challenger sticks they seem to do the trick. After some warm rain and when you get a nice isolated mud line the brown fishing is unbeatable!
  12. those are awesome pics!!! the rainbow and steelie are incredible fish
  13. i would of Nick if this work thing would ever stop wasting my time lol!! How was it?
  14. I also have run lead core off the boards put i have trouble getting good releases and getting the core down the planer lines. What kind of releases do you guys use?
  15. Cool vid man! 14 pound laker thats awesome. I've been recently diagnosed with a terrible case of un-curable fish fever! I cant wait for the spring fishing on Seneca lake!!
  16. How is the fishing on the bay? Ive only fished up there once on the ice... Any info is beneficial! thanks
  17. The other post are all accurate, shallows in the morning then work your way out. We have been killin the salmonids out there off the stick baits, so i would defintely try that. And dont forget to post your results!!!
  18. Best video i've seen! Makes me wanna fish baby!!!
  19. Hit cayuga lake out of T-falls and set up in the 20-50 foot range looking for salmonoids and browns. The early bite was awesome with good salmon hitting challenger, rapala sticks off the big jon planers. We landed 20 or so salmon, nothing over the 5 pound mark but all solid, healthy fish. We had a couple of larger fish on but wasnt able to land. We ended up gettin blown off the water around noon, but all in all its was well worth pulling the boat out of storage! Most fish hit our silver, black, and orange challengers, the larger fish enjoyed the rapala J-11 in orange and fire tiger. Speeds were 2.0.3.5., and the weather conditions were aweful! Heavy north winds and very cold, perfect! Some of my buds have been doing great on cayuga including some huge browns and insane numbers of the usual cold water salmons! i recommend getting out there if you can, winter weather is tough but well worth the effort!
  20. where you fishin?
  21. we dont have a down probe so temp and speed is something we have learned from experience... our top speed is usually 2.2-2.5. And with temps we dont usually go by the temp breaks, we mark fish on our hummingbird and place our gear in that area. Fishing in 75-90 foot the temp is not as important, especially if the fish are on the screen. Our lead cores are spaced out differently also we run one at 8 colors and the other almost all of it is out. We are constantly changing the distance on our dipsys and leads, and we change our lure color a lot until we find some consistency. ill post some pics
  22. We have been fishing Cayuga, out of Sheldrake, for the past four weekends and every time we come home with a cooler of NICE lakers, browns, smaller rainbows and salmon. Some days the riggers are leading the way, we fish silver, green, purple spoons mainly back off the ball like 50-65 foot. The sutton spoons have been really producing. Our dipsys are also getting some good numbers, we run these back anywheres from 125 (on the 1 setting) to 250 (on the 2.5-3.0 setting) depending on depth. Th dipsys are mainly catching salmon and rainbows, but we do get the lakers. We run 50# power pro and usually 7-8 foot leader of 17# flouro behind the dipsy. We also run lead core of our planner boards with either spoons or small stick baits, depending on what the fish are into that day. The lead cores have produced our biggest browns including some in the 7-8 pound range. Off the middle we run our copper back 300-400ft with a silver spoon and this KILLS monster lakers!! We let it drag bottom using a fix hook spoon, try it youll never fish for lakers without it! We never come home without landing over ten lakers of the copper and more than not we get a few close to ten pounds. We fish south from sheldrake in the 75-90 foot area, and lately it has been loaded with nice fish and tons of bait. We will be out there this weekend for sure
  23. what we do is find a good stream (people keep them a secret!) and we take a couple guys and work our way from the bottom to the top. one man will set up downstream with our home made screen filter, the other couple of guys will go up stream just a few yards and work the stream bed with rakes and shovels, stirring up the leafs, rocks, and the muddy bottom. The oaks that come loose from our raking and shoveling will float down stream and get caught in our screen. The screen is just a simple 2x4 frame maybe four foot long by 3 foot wide, we used an old screen door for the screen filter. Its best to set the screen where the creek necks down so that the floating grubs are forced into the filter. This technique will allow you to get dozens of oak leafs in just a few minutes. The biggest problem is finding the bastards, but once you get a good stream get as many as you want. (im not sure on the regs). We use a double hook rig and tip our small jigs with the oaks, right on bottom. We have been fishing with dozens of boats within casting range, yet we are the only ones getting double after double on nice cold water perch. The other fishermen know what your using and will beg for just a few! The oak leaf grub is the best bait for perch in my opinion. Plus on grub can catch more than one perch, they stay on the hook a lot longer than a minnow.
