  1. any ideas how to tire wire to wire?? I know it's most likely a nono, but in a pinch on the lake....
  2. Might head out this friday. Any reports from this week or last weekend?
  3. Congrats. Hell of a fish.
  4. had an incident like the OP a few weeks ago at the Oak. We were fishing inside with the pack, and just as we passed the last few boats, we put out one of our boards. As soon as we put it out we hook up with a king. While keeping our east troll and getting out of the pack, we see what looked like a charter trolling towards us off our front starboard. He proceeed to make a b line towards is, go right along side our board and call us a few names for running 1 board...outside of the pack. he was close enough where he had to lift his dipsy rod so his line wouldn't hit our board. (keep in mind it's also obvious we are still fighting our fish.) Once he gets nearly directly behind us, he turns back inside towards his original line. Based on his "over 30 years experience" (taken from his website), I would think he would have more decency than what he had. I'm not gunna name the Charter, but was kinda nice when I noticed the GoPro was running and cought most of the action...including the back of his boat...name and all
  5. another reason I hate throwin em back....
  6. I can understand people using the excuse that it was 'deep hooked' and keeping it, but I honestly don't think many people would keep a 2# king. I just hate putting dead fish back into the lake when I could use it on the table...
  7. Not sure if it's been discussed before but looking for your thoughts. The last few trips, we would have a deeply hooked shaker or two that bleed all over. We do our best to release them with the least amount of trauma, but no matter what we try or how quickly we try to get em back in the water, they end up not making it. If you know one of these little guys aren't gunna mate it, what do you guys do? I know getting caught with an illegal fish is no good, but I'd rather put it to good use rather than just wasting it by throwing it back in the lake. thoughts??
  8. Wish I was up a day earlier to see that 30#!! Saturday was a little bumpy to start but quite successfull. Good times again!
  9. Look like you're running a 500lb braid leader on your wire!!!!
  10. The Polomar is easy with braid, but with a heavy leader? wouldn't it be a little difficult?
  11. looking to may new tourney rigs for my flies, but don't like the bend in the line/hook with double snell. Any suggestions on what knot to use for the bottom treble to keep is straigt behind the single?
  12. fished off of one of these a few times. GREAT boats....
  13. great stands. I'd pick it up if I didn't already have two. Someone buy this
  14. My cousin picked it up at a garage sale for us as a spare, but no longer need it. Not sure how old it is or how much cable, but looks like enough to use as a manual, extendable boom, dual rod holders. I don't really want to ship and not sure what its worth so maybe $85 or trade for a reel?? I can take other pics if needed. 716 983 7637
  15. holy **** that looks gorgeous
  16. The last two weeks or so, we have been crushing the walleye. the weather has them moved up near the river and small boat harbor. drop a line with any color harness, or bright stick in 45-50FOW a few feet off the bottom and keep the cooler open. We had 12 keepers in under 5 hours sunday with just as many garbage fish. Bring a lot of crawlers and get em now.
  17. had a little on our braid dipsies (olcott), but not enought to worry about yet
  18. ditto. There may be a few Okuma haters out there, but this is a nice reel, esp when you can find them for $90
  19. Damn that's purdy
  20. Is it bad that I clicked on Tim's picture just to see what web browser he uses?
  21. I fished with John before the WHI and observed for him. Great guy with great friends. They were one of the few boats in the WHI to actually get fish. Someone observe for these guys!! Good luck at the Pro/Am John!
