  1. Sounds about right, maybe with some pretzels and BBQ chips thrown in
  2. Just bought three for $258 shipped. You WON'T find them cheaper. Sent them a message, made me an auction, got them 3 days after I pad for them. Even though he's asking more for them now, they are still cheaper than any place I found online. http://www.ebay.com/itm/121079830949?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
  3. anyone go out yet???
  4. Anyone else from the WNY area interested? Still have some trays available
  5. meat rigs work. Almost always have one out
  6. I'm not a huge fan of running to the bait shop before I go out in hope they have my herring, so the only way to ensure I have what I want is to order ahead of time. But, places only ship herring by the case, and there's no way I'm gunna use 20 trays in a season, let alone two. So, are there two other guys that are interested in splitting a case? Preferably in the western NY area since it would all be shipped to one location. I'm looking to get it from Calumet Marine and is $160 shipped. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM and we can work it out.
  7. Didn't think so. Just making sure. Thanks Paul.
  8. we picked up a Furuno 587 and ended up getting a transom mount 'ducer. we were looking at the thru-hulls too, but weren't 100% sure on what we needed. Pretty sure you will need just one transducer to replace the factory (if you have one). BUT, make sure is has an tilted element to compensate for deadrise. (like the Airmar B60)
  9. does anyone need an observer for any tourneys west of rochester? (other than WHI and the Pro Ams)
  10. Sometimes I'm glad kings don't get this big... http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/blog/508 ... like+that/
  11. I've seen both FF you are looking for in action, and liked the Furuno much better so, after doing all the research you are probably doin, we went with the 587. Hardest part is picking the transducer. The difference between the 585 and 587 is bottom discrimination, which also calls for a different, little more expensive transducer. We picked up a transom mount that is HUGE (http://www.airmartechnology.com/2009/pr ... anf=Furuno). Didn't realize it was as big and heavy as it was until we had it in person. It's like the size of a Gatorade bottle. Hope th is helps.
  12. You telling me Nick has put your baby in the slip in the 'cott? that's a big baby
  13. i'll be there. What can it hurt other than my wallet?
  14. We noticed for us a few times when the fishing is slow, we put on some AC/DC and the hits start coming. Or just like hunting, if you are busy eating or takin' a leak, there go the rods
  15. Is the perch really necessary in that pic? Anyways, GLWS
  16. I noticed last year some people were looking for observers for some tourneys, so I figured I'd put myself out there for a team looking for one in 2013. I have a good idea what the responsibilities are but if there is something that is commonly overlooked, I'd like to know. I've been fishing Lake O for about two years and always looking to be on a boat as much as possible and learn as much as I can. I figured this might be the best way to learn. So, if anyone is looking for an observer for sometime in the 2013 season, PM me and we can work out the details. Would prefer tourneys from Niagara to Rochester.
  17. it's not winter if Lake Erie doesn't freeze. But bring on the snow!!!
  18. We were looking to get a new fish finder this winter for next season, and we set on something by Furuno (most likely the FCV587 or 585). I can imagine that most people would prefer one of these over a few other brands, but due to the high price, I think we would rather spend the cash on other gear. I was curious if anyone has ever tried going through the manufacturer or a retailer attempting to arrange a ‘group buy’ and getting a small discount. I’ve participated in group buys before and saved a few bucks, but not on anything this expensive and in this type of limited market. If anyone has ever tried organizing a group buy or is interested in participating, let me know. If you think I’m wasting my time, feel free to tell me. If I get a handful of people interested, I’ll call a few retailers and see what can be done. Thanks for all the input.
  19. went last year and learned a lot. Was surprised how crowded it was. Is there any chance of a larger room or being extended to another building to accommodate any additional vendors??
