we've all been there. Feels even worse when you lose your best rig on the first day of your trip.... -
switched from 10lb balls to 13lb torpedos from Atommik. lot less blowback, track straighter, but a lot slower coming up with the Mag 10s

great customer service with these spoons from bob fuller
orangediablo replied to cheese's topic in Tackle Description
good guy here. Great communication and keeps you updated. I'll begetting many more spoons from him down the road. -
running whole bait, we get the head and flashers from http://www.michiganangler.com/ every flasher/head we have purchased has produced. Once the day starts to slow down, we typically run 'em as our deepest off the rigger. Like most people say, it usually doesn't produce the most fish compared to other set ups, but typically the biggest.

even though they are not Okis, these have worked well for us and quick shipping. http://www.michiganangler.com/Reel_Flashers.htm

still waiting for pics of the bloody table.... -
If I get it fresh that day, i don't brine it. Whatever is left over gets brined for 24hrs. then frozen until next use. Holds up better than just refreezing it and better than tossing it just to buy another tray the next time we go out.

Best Fillet Knife
orangediablo replied to cuseroller's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Just picked up and used the 10" Forschner Cimeter. some of the best $$ I spent so far. SCARY sharp, great feel. Worth every penny. Before this, I use the Cuto fisherman's solution. Little complaints about that one too. More flex than the Forschner, and works great on the smaller fish. -
Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water:6am-12 Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: 2 Surface Temp: Location:red barn LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 13 Total Boated:11 Species Breakdown:kings, steelies, brown Hot Lure: ssw Gator SD/Ito green/white mag fly Trolling Speed: Down Speed:2-2.5 Boat Depth: Lure Depth: 90+ ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Morning bit picked up quick with a few small steelies right off the bat in 110fow then slowed down for a while with a fish here and there, then about an hour and half of nothing, left from 250 to go back inside to around 120. put out our normal late morning go to stuff to hopefully get the bite goin again. Picked up a decent brown, and as soon as we get it in, the 230 wire just gets destroyed. I grab the rod, and that pissed off king wanted no part of being hooked up and ripped out 500 feet of line like it was his job. After a bit, the net slides under our first good king of the day just over 23lbs. While resetting the that dipsy, the port side 250 wire starts going ballistic, so the old man grabs it and has his fun. Didn't rip a whole lot of line, so bringing it in, we were thinking 18-20lb range. With a few feet of line out, I grab the net, take a look into the water and quickly realized this wasn't a 20lber. Few seconds later net goes under and in the boat goes our derby king. Oh, we aren't in the derby? Get back to the dock, throw in on the scale, 28.5lbs. Good enough for 7/8th if we were in, getting lower as the month goes on, but would have been nice to see his name up there for a while.

same here. Put the boat in gear going east and has 2.25-2.5 on the Moor -
never used fatheads, but bite has been decent on shiners. Haven't really paid attention to size. If they are biting, they will take any size. If you can, dip them yourself and save a bunch of dough.

Love the OKI flashers for whole bait, 8" SD for fillet on dipsies. Like bottom_F* said, doesn't take the most, but normally a good size when they are hit

some good ones in there

we've had decent luck dragging/bouncing crayfish off the bottom. Seem to have better luck with smaller crays over the big ones.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6/9-6/10 Time on Water: never long enough Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: calm Waves: Less than 1 Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 6/9-10 6/10-10 Total Boated:7 8 Species Breakdown:Kings, coho, steelies, brown Hot Lure: meat, froggy SD/mirage Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2 Boat Depth: 210-350 Lure Depth: 55-110 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My sister has never been on Lake O, so decided Saturday evening would be a good start. The rain stopped, wind died down, and the water flattened out, so time to go. Got on the water around 5pm and headed in front of the red barn in about 210 fow. As we are putting down the secod rigger, up goes the pole, thinking it was a false release, we grab the pole and it starts rippin a little line, so give it to her for her first lake O fish. Few minutes later, in comes a 8lb brown. From then on steady action with skipper kings, and handfull of coho. Around 7:30, we workd out to about 250 fow, saw some marks around 100, so drop some meat down there, 5 min later bring in mid teens king. So, right back down there with the meat and hope for another. Around 815, I'm swapping lures on port rigger when I see the deep digger get SLAMMED. Grab the rod give it to the sis, and 15 min later, i grab the net, and he wanted no part of it. It darts to the side of the boat, and I look over, and I know I'll kill myself if I let her first (big) king get away. A second later, what does it do...goes under the boat and out the other side. I run over there and see it's about 3ft down. Now or never. Splash the net into the water, speed up pehind it and finally scoop it up and in the boat. She was pretty excited her first king weighed in just over 22lbs. the next day, Dad and I started working 240 fow and got nothing the first 45 min. and were sligtly annoyed with that. Bring up a rigger...tangled. ****. untangle and reset, 15min later, fish on. From there, it was slow, so started heading north in hope for steelies and 'hos. Hit about 280ft, and wire starts screamin'!!! 15 minutes later, boat 23lb king (sorry 'lil sis). The next hour, nothing. Hit about 350fow and for ****s and gigs, put out a bright pink spoon which we never used, and a few min later 8lb coho in the boat. (might have to start using this more often). Even though it was a slow day, can't complain about a glass lake, 80* sunny weather, and good eatin cohos.

With the crappy weather/wind the last week or so, and the calm weather we will have this week, how long will it take the lake to settle and get back to "normal"? Also, what's the best way to fish it? Go deep? Cruise around 100-150ft and see whats there?
