Glad I fish the fingerlakes
Keep'n it Reel replied to justtracytrolling's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Events are always a good time good to put faces with names and conversations a few trout fishermen could even get lucky with some nice eyes you never know but for some browns would be the best bet hahahaha!! Can't wait to get back on the water!!! Oh wait in warm weather it's been a cold fishing season this winter.. -
Spin n glows or peanuts have had great success with both and most the shops around have them, just need to find the colors you want that can be tricky from some of the local shops.

Come on guys the winter fishing is just picking up little salt on the ramp and good to go! The last trip out was cold enough to make the pulleys on riggers freeze up in a matter of minutes twilly tips on the wire rods became solid ice the boat had fish packed in snow like a ice chest and the launch ramp had 6 inches of snow on it when we got back and Saturday I was ready to fish in a tshirt!!!!

Well started the morning out with some duck hunting!! Did have some success not as good as past trips but was way to nice of a day to duck hunt so pick decoys at around 11 after watching all the boats troll and cast all morning not seeing many hook ups though very odd for the area I was watching!!! Well ran home and hooked up the boat loaded the rods up and back up to the lake! Heard the bite was not fast and furious but still willing to give it a go so launched the boat at 2 and started fishing first fish was a small salmon on a 100 copper followed by a brown on the same setup right after resetting it! Kept heading north moving in and out trying to find a decent screen well was able to put a few of the pieces together for the puzzle and get some fish managed 11 or 12 fish before 4oclock with one lost at the boat and a few other hits just could not get any big fish biggest was about 4lbs laker great day to be on the water, it's funny I didn't see any of the boats on the lake today during my last few trips out!!!

good luck to you and I prob won't be out until the weekend I would say wether permitting but the only real factor I have with weather is wind haha!!! And les yes when the water temps go down is when I have my best luck If you look at that picture you will notice the pike has sores on it I have seen this before with them any clue what causes it?
-
Is that the stand with a separate seat?!?
-
les am I not suppose to be able to get pike this time of year?!?! Haha I have always found this a great time of year to get them and normally a few good ones this is my first time actually trying to get them while on the boat I usually do really well fishing from shore for them. And thanks guys its always fun in the snow looking like a warm up is coming I'm sure i won't be the only boat on the lake for the next trip!!!

When wanting to catch big fish why get a smaller net??? I ran a 15' boat with 6' ranger net with a salmon basket on it and now a 18' center console with the same ranger net plus a extension for the Handel and at time I wish I had 2 for the boat hahaha!!!!
-
Well I did it again could not resist the lake so found a few crazy people to jump on board and fish Saturday during the snow storms I told them we would be the only boat fishing and I was 100% correct!! Trout fishing was as expected and about 11 changed things up and decided to troll for pike did that for about a hour landed one and lost one other fish not sure of that species but slammed the rigger!!!

I launch at the village marina or the one by the motel as fishy called it! And I launched Saturday and fished through the snow storm 4x4 is needed to get back up the ramp right now

Welcome to the site!!! Beautiful boat!! And just wait till you start drilling wholes it's a sad and proud day at the same time hahahaha... And I have seen a lot of different style cowbells but most all are still a simple and similar design. A short segment of fishing wire just like you see for steel leaders then their is rotating attractors on them some are copper, silver, painted all different kinds!! Then behind that is what you desire the fish to eat wobble trolls peanuts I have used flat fish and even spoons.. Think of a mepps spinner take all the hooks off connect them end to end then add something with a little different appearance and a hook a little ways behind the last one. I use a set of cowbells that are 30" long and have 4, 5" long willow leaf shape blades then about 20" behind that I run a spin'n glow
