Isaac and I hit the water this AM before work in hopes to get on the first light jig bite. It did not disappoint. I think we finished 6/12 with another handful of fish that hit and didn’t connect. That open water jig bite is definitely a lot of fun. The last one I got almost ripped the rod out of my hand on the hit. All around beautiful morning!

No, 30 pound wire has a higher breaking strength of 50lb fluro. Just like 30 pound mono would break way before 30 pound braid?
-
Has anyone ever tried running 50lb fluro from diver to flasher. I fish with a lot of inexperienced fisherman, and I’m sick of losing flasher flys with the 25lb leader lol.

Took my dad, one of his friends, and his friends grandson out before work this morning. We fished till 8. We had a case of the drops this morning, but the trip resulted in double digit hookups and some nice fish to the boat. Got out again this afternoon after work with the boys! We did a mix of jigging and trolling, and did another 20 bites. That jig bite is a lot of fun! Great day to be on the water

I was brought back to reality this morning. Had a co-worker out today and he had a good time, but a very average trip to say the least. Still did double digit bites……just nothing compared to how it’s been for me. I just couldn’t get it together lol. I talked to a few guys who still had a great morning though! They weren’t wanting carbon 14, arctic ice, or uv green jeans today. Those three have been on fire for me lately. Riggers were relatively quiet all morning. Wires cleaned up. Deep rig tackle fake meat took our biggest fish again.

I got home from work and my son said he really wanted to go salmon fishing. Got the stuff packed up and head out. Rods set around 7pm and got a good 2 hours in. Definitely not as fast and furious as this morning, but we had a nice pick while we were out there. Fished 100 to 160 and pulled fish at all depths. My son loved it. As soon as we packed the boat up and got in the car to leave to head home, my son says “Dad, I really want to go salmon fishing on Lake Ontario again” lol. I told him it won’t be an issue! Good luck to everyone getting out tomorrow

Another quick trip before work. The insanity continues. We ended up doing 34 bites. It’s just unreal out in the lake this year. I got my cousin out on the action this morning. He is going to have some soar arms tomorrow, as I only reeled in 5 of the fish lol. At one point, both divers and both riggers all just had fish screaming drag. We were just laughing. It was a day to remember. Caught fish from 80 to 150 on multiple different spoons and flasher flies. It really doesn’t seem to matter this year. I’ve also been using some of that deep rig tackle plastic herring strips the last two trips. I don’t think I’m ever going to use real meat again. It has taken multiple shots both outings I used it. Took our biggest fish on it today too. Ended with 17 kings, 4 lakers, a coho, and a brown in the boat today. Can’t beat it.

Quick trip before work. Had three buddies out with me, and we stayed busy. This bite this year is something else. Not as crazy as last trip, but did 25 bites today. Landed some nice fish. Spoons on riggers consisted of carbon 14, uv green jeans, gold Martel, with carbon 14 being the all star. Divers had flasher flies and meat. Both took multiple fish.

Got out before work from 5-9AM with a few friends. Couldn’t ask for a better bite. Carbon 14 and green jeans were the only two spoons I had on the riggers today…..never had a reason to change them. Meat and FF were slow, so I replaced the meat rig with a gold geezer, that went 5 times on the diver, and did end up taking 4 fish on the other diver with FF. Riggers were fire though with near 30 bites. Couldn’t keep the rods in the water today! Nice first king outing of the year!!!
