  1. I had an incident 3 weeks ago on a Sunday that "Reel"y upset me . I was keeping a "Reel"y straight line along the shore line in about 7-9 feet of water with a certain charter gaining ground behind me and to my right. This "Reel" clown comes out of the cabin, tells me to move out towards the lake, and slinks back in the cabin quick. I didn't know for certain if the rules of the road stated I needed to move so I complied, and watched them pick up 2 fish right in front of me. I was sick to my stomach. Got home later to learn about "give way" and "stand on" vessels and realized I had been bullied by this "Reel" jerk. I hadn't posted anything on here because I was concerned about calling out charter captains and boats, especially since there are so many regulars here that are not like this and post helpfull information. Someone else finally posted their "Reel" experience so I figured what the heck.
  2. thanks for the report. we haven't caught a single steelhead this year out there, just a ton of browns and coho's.
  3. Kudos to you for towing that boat in. That no doubt was appreciated by the owner. I'd gladly do the same for someone else and hope others would help me. And no skunk on your boat. Not a bad day at all.
  4. Went out again 4/24 from 6am-8am, but this time solo. Went 3 for 3 with 2 browns and 1 laker, all average catches but a ton of fun. Was content with 3 so I zipped back to the bay. They were hitting so well, who knows how I would have done had I kept going. The hot lure this trip out was a different Lucky Craft Pointer SP with a dominant yellow color. It took all 3 fish. Also removed a nasty lamprey from one of the browns. Never pulled one of those in before, but seen fish with scars from them. Thing wiggled around on the deck like a snake. Noticed others were having great days as well, as I spotted bent rods and nets on multiple boats on the way back. It doesn't get much better than this right now on the lake for Trout!
  5. A nice run for sure! Kinda makes you forget about the last empty trip? Great Walleye there. With that season close to starting, it's good to see there are still a few of them around.
  6. NOTHING beats a day out with your kid(s). Cold or not, he'll remember it. Can't describe the joy I get when my daughter or son excitedly tell me the pole is bent over.
  7. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 4/22/11 Time on Water: 3 hrs Weather/Temp: cloudy/49 degrees Wind Speed/Direction: SE 13mph Waves: 1 foot Surface Temp: 42-45 degrees Location: I-bay headed east LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7 Total Boated: 4 Species Breakdown: 2 Brown, 1 Smallmouth, 1 Coho Hot Lure: Lucky Craft Pointer SP Trolling Speed: 1.8-2.5 mph Down Speed: Boat Depth: 6-13 feet Lure Depth: 2-5 feet ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My daughter and I went out for an evening troll and had our best run yet. Never bothered changing lures because everything was working, and even accidentally nabbed a bronzeback that went quickly back in the water. I think they are a heartier fish than trout because it swam away instantly instead of having to "revive" it. The highlight was an 8 lb Brown that had a goby lodged in it's throat. I keep wondering if gobies are really as bad as we all thought initially. Would have done a lot better today if we hadn't made a mess of the lines on the coho. Ended a really killer day too soon. Still, was sooooo nice to get out again after lousy weather for a week.
  8. Congrats on a really great catch! That brownie looks like it's in great shape too and will look great on your wall. What you described was exactly my experience with my biggest brown that was only 11. Dragged in and then she realized what was going on and made multiple runs. Didn't think I'd boat it either!
  9. Any idea what that big one was? Another brownie? Bummer it got away. That much line out and it had to be a good one...
  10. Forgot to mention that i saw something no one is going to believe. 2 deer were running along the shore. Awhile later i see the 2 of them swimmimg in the water together heading out deep. I swear to god I don't do drugs. i took pictures with my smartphone but they didn't show like I hoped.

Boated my first ever Laker and was excited about that. About 6 lbs. Did not get to the pole in time for the second hit sadly. The price of running solo, I guess. Both off the same Lucky Craft that has been on fire for me. A side note, the Coast Guard was out tonight boarding every boat in site, including a run through Irondequoit bay. They were pleasant, but I did receive a warning because my flares had expired. Shame on me for that. Make sure you are in compliance!
  12. Just curious, but what are you using for lures?
  13. Thanks, guys. Found the name of the lure...Lucky Craft Hardbaits Pointer SP . I only have 2 of them but they have both produced as well as the Rebel Minnows I use.

I was flatlining and had to frequently pull in the lures to clear weeds moving with the mud. Wasn't until we moved into about the mud at 12 feet that we got the one and only hit. My son's first Brown and he was happy about it. I have now had consistant results with this same lure. Can't remember the name of it right now but will post when I find it.
  15. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 4/8/11 Time on Water: 3 hrs Weather/Temp: 50 degrees, more than less than Wind Speed/Direction: 5-10 mph Waves: 1/2 foot Surface Temp: Location: out of I-bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 3 Total Boated: 3 Species Breakdown: 2 Brown, 1 Steelhead Hot Lure: Rebel Minnow Trolling Speed: 3-5 mph Down Speed: Boat Depth: 7-9 feet Lure Depth: 2-4 feet ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== I'm happy to report my first trolling success for Trout in Lake Ontario. I was only out for a few hours in mid to late afternoon, out of I-bay toward Webster. I was solo and managed to boat 3 total. 2 Brown and 1 acrobatic 4 lb steelhead. The one Brown was an absolute hog that took a good 15 minutes to boat. The other Brown was about a 5lber that I released. Smaller gray/brown/white stickbaits did the trick.
