    We went as far out as 140+ fow, sampling temps from top to bottom. 64 degrees. Went back to 80 fow and tried for browns for a little while and gave up. Noticed a lot of boats moving in early as well. I wouldn't expect tomorrow to improve.

    Had no idea it was like that for so long. I've never seen such water. We launched out of Oneida Shores Park and went out beyond the islands. Was putrid the whole way but did improve the further we went. Made me wonder how it looked at the Sylvan end. Do you know if that condition is the same from top to bottom in the water column?

    How was your catching, though? Id be wary of putting a petroleum based product full of scent on any of my lines. Seems like it might put the fish off? That and any petroleum based product will break down plastic (fishing line) eventually.     I have never open water fished Oneida until this past weekend. It's a terrific ice fishing lake, that I have visited many times. And no doubt spring/summer/fall are usually good as well. But, we struggled because of the algae bloom that has taken hold of the lake. Only managed 1 eye to the surface from jigging over 20fow. Tried trolling and caught a jumbo perch on a spoon off downrigger. Spent a lot of time cleaning weeds off lines. Because of the bloom, visibility was maybe 2 feet. I know this is a good lake, we just caught it at a bad time. Look forward to returning in the fall and winter.

    About your sensor, the sending unit, or oil pressure sensor is a common failure. The springs within them weaken over time. The alarm is triggered when the contact is grounded. That is why removing the wire stops the alarm. They are an easy and inexpensive replacement but often require a special socket to remove. On the subject of "hot side" of the boat, my probe rigger has been the hot side for me since I got it. It's always the rigger I target 46 degrees. And that includes the target depth and cheater. Flasher/fly on dipsies has been cold for me also, but so has the King bite this summer. I usually maintain 2.4-2.8 on an x4.

    Had 20lb mono on the rigger lines with 20lb seaguar fluoro leaders. I need to change this immediately. Does anyone know where I could pick up Flea Flicker line around Rochester? I use 30lb power pro on the braid dipsy's. Lines were pulled and cleaned frequently, but it was remarkable how fast they built back up. To clarify, I stated I may reconsider what Im fishing for this weekend because it will be one of the rare times I get my wife and daughter to go along. I want it to be fun, not frustrating.     A big stinky skunk. Took out Pikefreak tonight. 100fow out to 240 and back to 130. Caught buckets of fleas on every line, but no fish. Not even a release. First time running a wire dipsy and it had seemingly as many fleas on it as the braid dipsy lines. Temps all over the place. Bait scattered. Fleas so bad I'm reconsidering what to fish for on the weekend.

    I stumbled onto a completely rigged and ready to go 9ft okuma GLT dipsy rod, 30dx reel, twili tip, and 1000 feet of 7 strand 30lb mason wire for $135 at a local tackle store. Couldn't pass it up. Also picked up the Daiwa at Dick's. So I'm going to test both rods with that reel w/wire and see what I like best. I'm glad to know that running multiples of the same length aren't an issue.

    Until I read this thread, my answer was "suck it up, you'll be ok". Now I will be more sympathetic. I'm so very grateful that I have never been seasick. A terrible curse.

    I do not recommend this. He may never fish with you again if you grab his probe.

    Cool. Im going to try out one daiwa and see how it works with the 10' I already have and 8'6" on the same side. If it's too close Ill get the shimano's.     I have 2 10' ugly stik dipsy rods now and would like to at times run 2 more. I'm looking for 8' 6" dipsy rods but not finding them. I have found 9' Okuma's, but I'm concerned about tangles running a 9 and a 10 on the same side of the boat?

    My brother and I left the channel at 5:30 headed NE. We both entered the LOC derby for the first time with a single day entry. Started setting lines at 150, continuing NE with the waves. Temps deep and inconsistant. We got as far as 240 before we had enough of the chop and started a southern troll. Had picked up a 1st year King on the 90 rigger, slider dw caramel dolphin, and had 4 other releases on that rigger(mag dw glow frog on the bottom), but gone by the time we got there or shortly after. Into 140 and started changing over to a test laker rig. Picked up some cowbells that I read about from Momay and Bondouley's threads. Still had a spread that I was hoping would attract other trout as well, and worked a speed of 1.7-2.0. Using a 5/0 hammerhead green cowbell, we would go on to pick up 5 lakers near bottom with a tiny glow green peanut 30 inches from the back of the cowbell. So easy and fun. We also brought in a steelhead on a 155 setting 1.5 dipsy with a Bomber Long A pearl of moon stickbait, and a 12.15 brown from a Warrior NBS(60 rigger) that would have held the bottom of the board until tonight. We did not take it in knowing it would never make the weekend. Off the lake at 11:30. Fleas were a PITA today. Can't believe how they have multiplied in just half a week. Good luck to all tomorrow!
