I'll try to post a few pics. I really like the platform for salmon fishing. We usually have 5 on board and it's comfortable, not crowded at all. As I expected, trolling in the trough is not comfortable to me, it rolls, but heading into the common 2' to 3'ers the boat handles great. No "slamming or slapping" into that at all, very smooth and no splash onto the windshield unless you are quartering across them. This was our first year with it and very happy. Used a trolling bag just to help keep it going straight on one engine but didn't really need that for speed, it will troll along a 2mph with no wind or current. Camped out at the dock a few nights as well and sleeps 2 comfortably.
We are rigging it up the 28 to fish Lake Ontario for this season. Needs electronics yet. Only ran it one day last fall, it handles a head sea very well. It's gonna roll in the trough trolling but I figure if you have to choose between the two I would rather have a softer ride on the cruise through rough weather. The 28 definitely rides and feels like it is larger than it is and is a tank.
A great resource for the Carolina Classic:

I found my current Carolina 28 on that forum that a member listed before putting it on the open market. I had been looking for a 28 for a few years and hadn't found the right one so last year purchased a 1998 Carolina 25 and ran it last year, sold it at the end of the season to buy the 28. Only reason for selling the 25 was the 28 I had been looking for with gas engines and no tower in budget was finally found so I did sell the 25 and only had it for one season. Both brands are well built heavy boats.
There is a lot of info on the water ingestion issue on that forum. The 25 we had was one that had the original Volvo engine replaced in 2007 with a Crusader from the Carolina Classic factory and the Crusader was a great engine.
What size screen do you run for either traditional 2D fish finder or Panoptix? Big difference in price on a 9" screen vs 12" screen but just looking for opinions if the 9" is too small? My vision isn't getting any better.

Thanks for the review. I was looking at these over the winter. How long are the booms you run? One question I had was can you lift the boom to bring the downrigger weight in?
Finally got our "new" 1998 Carolina Classic 25 out on Lake Ontario last weekend for the first shakedown trip. Only fished for about 4 hours, landed 2 Lake Trout, 2 Kings and this above average Coho.
We ran the 18 pound last year. I like it. As stated, does not take up as much room on the reel, doesn't wear you out as much as the heavier leadcores and we caught our largest King on it last year, so that makes it liked even more.
Anyone run the Walker TripZ diver off of big boards? I'm not sure if these have been out for a while or if I just noticed these. Looks like they may put the spoon in a good depth for steelhead if they don't pull the clip from the board line?
I'm looking to replace the reels on the dipsey wire rods. Reading all the reports that I can and see some say it's not a good idea to spool wire onto an aluminum spool. So I'm not finding a heavy duty line counter without an aluminum spool. Anyone had any problems with the compatibility of wire on an aluminum spool?
I'm considering:
Diawa SG47LCX
Penn 320 GTiLC
Shimano Tekota
They will be used in saltwater, also. What's your favorite reel for wire?
Thanks
FX,
Purple Thunder and Caramel Dolphin at various depths were consistent all days with the bigger kings and steelhead. Saturday was a good day, good size fish a little west on the 33 line, NK NBK copper parked at 45 was a hit with the steelies.
