  1. Good looking birds! I shoot in the northern tier trap league from spring til fall, fun stuff. My ol 870 only catches a break during ice fishing season. Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I have some questions/ concerns regarding these shells and if anyone has experience with them in a situation similar to mine. Im shooting a 870, 28" barrel with a factory flush mount modified choke. I've been shooting 3in. black clouds 1 1/4oz BBs and 2's for geese and passing ducks(on a recommendation). Still being fairly green at the game, I wasn't impressed with my pattern but was still killing a few birds. Recently I purchased a box of the Remingtons in 3in. 1 1/8oz in BB because I couldn't find 2s. Last weekend I shot a few at some birds at around 30-45yds. I was much happier with the results and am willing to deal with the extra recoil that accompanies them. My question is general safety and reliability of these shells through my gun. I've read a few reviews trying to get the answer but wasn't able to find exactly what I was looking for. Basically im trying to make sure this doesn't potentially damage the gun and more importantly myself. The reason for my concern is reading a few reports saying it could be damaging due to the velocity of the shells and certain choke combos. The instances and setups weren't identical to mine which is why im looking for further opinions. Im not looking to start a brand war or anything, just some opinions from those who may have better insight than what I could find. Thanks ahead of time..... 6. I still like to think that im a bow hunter but I it does seem harder and harder to do both. I will always be a deer hunter and knew I needed another addiction like a hole in the head. I really enjoy the camaraderie of waterfowl hunting. Now I just cherry pick the best days to deer hunt. Good luck to you and everyone else ad well Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Yessir you as correct. Now that I look at the head that makes sense. I honestly never paid much attention to the bird as he shot and recovered it. He said teal and I sounded good to me from a distance. Im still fairly new at the waterfowl thing, 2nd season, thanks for pointing that out Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  9. Battled through the rain yesterday and came out of the morning with 5 mallards for our efforts. Hunted a different spot with another buddy last night and managed 3 more mallards. Woke to much more enjoyable weather today. Went back to the same area as last night and my buddy brought his 7 month old chocolate lab, Ace, with him. We wanted to get the dog some experience more than anything but still came out of the morning with a teal. Saw some other birds but couldn't get the shots. The dog had a great time and was surprisingly well behaved, he's got some potential and I look forward to hunting with him in the coming years. Now its off to the evening shoot to hopefully have another successful hunt... Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Well its here, duck season! Greeted with 20mph winds and rain. Still going to make the best of it and hope to have a good morning shoot. Will post pics later....hopefully Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. As I sat in my deer stand this morning, seeing nothing, I couldn't help but smile as I listened to numerous mallards chatting back and forth all morning on the marsh on our lease. Its new land to us this year and while I had my bow in my hand all I could think about as getting the shotgun back out next weekend. Can't wait...... 12. Squeezed in my final morning shoot before the early season ends. Ended the morning with 23, birds were still flying when we left but had to salvage at least half a day at the jobsite. Now on to bow and the approaching duck seasons.... Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  14. Dukhunter....I hear ya on wanting an outboard for those purposes. Originally I was in the same thinking. I did grow accustomed to the doghouse and grew to favor it. Plus if anything mechanical were ever to go wrong (luckily it hasn't) I feel much more comfortable working on a "car" engine as opposed to an outboard where I have much less knowledge. And winterizing is a snap in my 3.0L, pull 2 plugs and run rv antifreeze through the hoses til it's flushed out. That being said its still not as easy as an outboard..... just thought I'd relay my experience with my boat Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  21. Supposedly that's the beauty of the copper, it's very speed sensitive. A slight increase/decrease in speed can cause it to lift and fall. Just going by what the article on the website says. Would I be willing to risk some of my baits and rigs to find out if its true....I don't know. Thankfully the structure I fish this time of year allows me to run mono so for now I'll stick with what works, as im sure you will as well. As the saying goes if it ain't broke.... I would be curious to see it's effectiveness over lead core though and its always nice to have less line out to achieve similar depths. Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. First mated last Sunday outta Henderson, put a limit of lakers, a brown and a king at 25lbs for the group. Screen looked great all day. Fleas weren't terrible... the king was pretty dark also. Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  24. I was born in Michigan and grew up in Algonac which is right on the St. Clair river. Handlining wire with multiple plugs is the go to method for eyes there if I remember correctly. Im sure it has to do with the strong current, much like the St. Lawrence. It's all well and good hand over handing 2-10lb eyes until a musky latches onto one of the plugs lol Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app
