Fished out of dunkirk Sunday. Took fish all on harnesses but differrnt presintation's. 2 on the rigger pulling a water melon harnes that was down 69ft over 96-98fow. 1 on the braided dipsy with a black dipsy and hammer-copper black harnes. The next fish was on the wire and it absolutley hammered it, the wire was the same set up and the braid.Big eye came on a 10 color leadcore pulling a blue/silver harnes.Fish ended but being 9/9.5lbs. 5 Total on the day, not a banner day but not horrible either.Especilly for not being there since the spring. The best part of the day for me (besides catching the eye's) was once we got back to port.We ran into to a group of guys that were fishing the tournament that was going on all weekend that were from Buffalo.I know when it comes to the mighty Walleye not many guys want to tell you any thing.I am even quilty to this my self somtimes. But these guys were great and shared alot of info with us being we dont get to fish Erie as much as we would like. They even whent as far as stopping us b4 we pulled out to show the exact lures they were using and how they ran them. I thought that was awsome!! So i dont know if you guys from buffalo use this forum but if you do Thanks Alot again!!!!Can't wait to go back again and try some new things out....hopefully b4 the fall loc starts up here at home. Cheaters are about a 5-8ft piece of floro carbon with barrel swivals on each end.You can either set your rigger to your desired depth then take your 5-8ft floro and put your spoon on one end and clip your other swival on you main line that is already down.Once you have that just throw you spoon out to the out side and let it free fall down your main line. That way you are running two spoons on one line.A fixed cheater is when you use the same floro leader but in stead you only drop your ball down 5-10ft then attatch it to your main line the same way but you use some sort of release to hold it in place. When the fish hits it, it will release a slide down to your main line swival. There are two important things to do when running cheaters, they are always use good barrel swivals to help prevent any tangles and the other is when that rod goes off real as fast as you can.Reason being if the fish is on the cheater line you want it to slide alway to the end of your main line as fast as possible to take any slack out of the line so you dont loose the fish.hope this helps explain a little better.Good luck Matt -Jakey Baby-

Yea i have heard the same thing about the winter ice fishing for them there and doing well. I have got to try it out some time. My buddy lost a monster tiger there 2 weeks ago at the boat.Could not get it in the net and broke the hooks off a husky jerk.We try to troll it when there isnt to many boats out being so small.Never really have good luck w/ jigging... When running your riggers and setting sliders over top...I would run a nk28 off the ball and put a fixed cheater 6-9 ft above it with a mag spoon over the top.Run the nk 28 any where from 25 - 35 back off the ball and the mag cheater any where from 10- 18 ft off the main line.By doing this, alot of times the mag spoon will put off alot more flash then a 28 or smaller spoon. This will attract the fish in for a good look and if it does not take your mag offering alot of times it will hit your nk 28 almost out of instinct and agrestion as it turns to do back down.Give it a try im pretty sure you will see what i am talking about.Hope it works for you as it does for me when i only run 4 rods..Good Luck Matt -Jakey Baby-

Weird Pike/Muskie Behavior
JakeyBaby replied to Ronix 51's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
i've seen the biggest tiger musky i have ever seen doing the same thing on Hyde lake up north. This fish looked like an aligator swimming in the water . i tried throwing a bunch of differnt things at it as it swam around the boat for about 10 mins!!!!!Holy S@#t we said, i didnt think this was a common thing.. I was told when i told people that the fish does that after a big meal, helping them get a big meal down.Dont know how true it is but thats what i am riding on.. Matt -JAKEY BABY- -

It was very slow for me.. I whent as far out as about 230fow and east to as far as lighthouse point.Marked fish hear and there but nothing consistant to get real exicted.Caught as few skippers on the riggers down 85 on 42nd spoon, carmel dolphin, and spook. Once i got down towards light house point started marking TONs of bait in 150 fow. Didnt see alot of hooks on the bait but it was def. the best screen we had all morning. Then finally the wire fired back 225 on a green spin doctor and hammer fly.Ended up being 10-12lb coho but the best fish of the day, right after did a small brown down 75 on the rigger. What is the best style / weight ball to run on my rigger with my sub-troll probe??? My rigger cable is tracking pretty far back which is throwing my temp off when i am running between 2-3 mph down. As of late i have been running a 10lb shark weight and i have also tried a pancake weight, but that wants to cut to the out side of the boat and tangle with the other riggers..Please and Thanks Matt -Jakey Baby-

Atommik fly rigging question
JakeyBaby replied to steelfire's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
The head of your fly goes twards your atractor. The skirt from the fly should lay over your hooks and help cover them up. Matt -Jakey Baby-
