  3. As I sit here at work contemplating as I do every year around this time to try and pin point when to start logging my vacation time! Just wondering what others are thinking is to when they are going to try and spend the most time in a tree this season? The obvious last week of October and 1st 2 weeks on November are the lock, just not sure exactly when I want to do it this year. I usually wait untill the last minute to try and check what weather is in the near future but, just part of the fun is trying to strategies the attack!

  5. Well so far here in Ohio has been tough to say the least! Scouted all day yesterday in 96 degree weather!! Absolutely brutal! Didn't find anything that I could have confidence in so rather then wasting time in a tree I put more boot work In instead this morning. After covering a TON of ground I finally found a great spot along the edge of a corn field. Acorns, tons of trails, scrapes, rubs, and dropping that prove there is at least one buck in that area. Heading in shortly to try and get on one. Very long walks and mountain climbing to get back in there. Much different then back home! We did do some driving around and whent by a house where we saw a buck in the back of the pick up so we stopped to check it out. Young girl killed it and was her first deer! Proves that they do exist!
  6. Ohio bound.... ETA 1hr!!
  7. On my way to our lease yesterday, we traveling south on Drake rd in Hamlin and noticed two deer laying dead in the ditch. Pulled over to investigate and saw two bucks piled on top of each other. Both were missing their back straps. The one was a huge body and the head was missing!! The other was a first rack 6pt. Will a little more investigation we noticed the they were shot with a rifle and not that long ago!! Poachers make me sick!! I wish I could find the scum bags who did this! I did contact the DEC even though there us nothing they can do at this point I'm sure.
  8. Pretty sure this is the one you are talking about...... great thread that last all season!http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/index.php?/topic/60756-Legacy--2016-Deer-Season
  9. 36i lbs is my # for a King....
  10. Yea just buy the tags and do it yourself self hunt. We are no longer going to Mohican memorial national forest we are hitting Woodbury Wildlife Area instead. 20,000 acres in that spot. Hopefully tag out on a Buckeye before are season gets rolling here.
  11. The Drury show "Thirteen" is the best show on the outdoor channel by far! They actually break down step by step and give great information! Go back and watch past seasons then apply the intell to this season. It worked for me last season!
  12. Looks like there is a good chance we might kick off our season next weekend in Ohio for there opener!! Planning on hitting Mohican Memorial National Forest. Anyone ever hunt there?
  13. I have ran the Accura V2 for the last 3 seasons. Great gun! 100 grains of powder with a Barnes Expander is a nasty combination. Easy to clean also. The only difference between the Accura and the Optima are the barrels. Accura comes with Bargarra barrel and the Optima does not.
  14. I too have pear trees on my property, although they haven't yielded any fruit the last 2 seasons. But when they do the deer are all over them!
  15. Man I guess I am luckier then I thought. We pay $10 an acre for my lease, and cost for our plots plus it has all the amenities we need to work the property. A big bonus is it's only 5 minutes from my house, which is great! Good luck with your new ground!
  16. We steal our kids glow Sticks and slide them in the slitts in the flag. Green is the easiest to see.
  17. Lol! I'm used to it, that's how I revive all my fish. Once they start chewing at my hand they are good to go.
  18. Yes it was, the 1st one we landed was also bulged right out.
  19. Great job, it was a good night to be out there!
  20. Unfortunately I didn't get into the fall knowing my time on the water was going to be extremely limited. Even if we were the fish didn't hit the deck till 7:30 ish which is to late to enter giving I would have to get to the Oak or Rochester by 8 o'clock.
  21. Haven't been out in over 3 weeks busy with prepping for deer season. Decided to finally hit the pond yesterday evening. 6 o'clock finally took our 1st king in the low 20's. Wasn't untill shortly after 7 the rigger pulling a "Blue Skinny Jeans" Moonshine down 85 over 100 fow poped and we had a battle on our hands! Every time we would take an inch the fish would take a mile. Once we finally got it 50 ft or so from the back of the boat the fish came to the surface like a shark. By the distance from the dorsal to the tail I knew it was a good one. Finally the fish hit the net and it wad all high 5's from there. Most definitely much bigger fish in the sea but my personal best while trolling! Hit the scale at 31 and change, couple quick picks and back to go spawn! Took two more huge rips while we releasing the big one and dumped both. Short while later landed a high teens on a diver with a huge while in its face. Great night get back out there!!
  22. And it begins!! Haven't fished in since August 2nd ( except for last night) due to the constant work that the upcoming deer season requires. This year we have 8 kill plots/ food plots and praying that this rain we have this morning helps them out! Clover, chicory, Turnips, Winter Weat, Oats, are what we went with this year. Sure hope all the work pays off! Can't wait for that first crisp morning!
