  1. No, what I mean is that the deer is much better in rack size then the pictures show. By being run down I mean that I would bet he has lost 40-50 lbs in the last month from the rut and now it's time for them to eat and put weight back on before the winter.
  2. Stay on the food trust me they need it. Believe me the pictures I have do no do this deer I have any justice, he is worn down. You can pretty much see the top of his spine. They need food at this point
  3. Food plots vs. Dumping a bag of acorn rage are not even in the same league as far as I am concerned. Most people have no idea how much time, sweat and MONEY goes into food plot. 95% of hunters would just hear what it takes and costs and would never even attempt it. Much easier for joe blow to go to walmart to grab a bag of whatever they want dump it 20yrds in front of them and shoot the 1st button buck that comes by. Food plots we plant are so the property will hold the deer so they don't wander to the neighbors and get shot. Also to help sustain the herd throughout the winter when they need it the most.
  4. Congrats on some great deer!
  5. Thanks again guys! Couldn't be happier this morning, taped him off last night at 129 1/8 my best 8pt to date!
  6. Not sure what happen to the pics but here they are again .
  7. Thank you everyone!! It has by far been my toughest season to date. He just started showing up on camera the last 3 days, hunted a different spot where he was yesterday with only to have a coyote run off all the deer. Moved to the other side of the property where I was getting only night and early morning pics if him. Carried a latter in with me this afternoon to hunt the turnip field that I've yet to sit. Seen a spike, smaller 8pt and 12 doe filter into the field. I caught him out of the corner of my eye at 25yrds! Turned the scope down to 3 power and cocked the hammer back, as soon as I did it echoed in the house i was in and doe through her head up! Once she settled I swung the gun on him and bang! He went 50 yrds or so I could barely see him tip over with all the smoke! Awsome sit!
  8. Better pics to come!
  9. Just filled the field with smoke!!!
  10. Lol that's it! I'm doin it
  11. Or I was hoping to just clear the field when the ML cracks off on a big boy
  12. Any ideas on ways to keep deer from completely knowing what you are when leaving a food source at night? My main reason for not liking to hunt food is the whole bumping them out
  13. Just got settled into the tree cabin looking over 2 good size Turnip plots. Good action on the camera over here, let's just hope they move before dark. 1st time I have ever sat here.
  14. Congrats Rick, great buck for only a few hours in a stand for the whole season.
  15. It's kinda funny how me being concerned well over a month ago labeled me as a "whiner", yet now for the most part most are agreeing and starting to "whine". Lol So maybe if you guys are sick if not seeing deer then maybe we should all just take a step back and take a break and not be concerned about what's going on!
  16. X2! Same as our King Salmon that they say are above average in numbers. We decided a long time ago that we were not shooting any doe on our 200 acres this season. There just isn't enough. 1 doe kill equals maybe 3-4 deer next year. I talked to the neibering properties to me yesterday and every single one is concerned and just plain out not seeing deer. It's an absolute shame! I really wish NYS cared about there natural resources that brings in an astronomical amount of money year after year.
  17. Saw 4 white flags followed up by a lone coyote bark.. that was my night. I was told more information about the nuisance deer killed on the surrounding properties of mine. Total they took somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 deer on nuisance tags. Plus who knows how many that no one knows about. To me that seems like an awful lot of deer, plus the explosion of the coyote population, and record cold winters the last 2 seasons I just can't gain the edge.
  18. Checked cameras and a few more bucks are starting to show them selves last night and early this morning.
  19. Have heard over 30 shots In the last 30 mins. Boys are definitely pushing a few miles to the North. I think I'm going to bail out on the morning sit, check a few cameras and get back In early and sit on some turnips this evening
  20. I'm In 8a also one shot heard all morning with no deer sightings. I was told that the farmer across the street said that anielated the deer tge last two years with nucence permits.........looks like next in going to have to try and put ALOT more food In the ground so they don't have to cross the road
  21. That's sweet Joe! It's got to be awsome knocking then over with a pistol.
  22. I slept in for the first time a month and a half. Taking today off to regroup then back in tomarrow looking for this guy!
  23. Finally got some decent bucks on camera this morning....Theese two were right before light this morning 28 mins apart i don't think it's the same deer. Last week......
