Moved to a secluded 1acre corn that has been very productive so far. Middle of the day and a corn field? Not sure, but its the rut, its surrounded by thickit and a swamp and can see over the whole field! Ready to knock one stiff!
Well the wind just magically switched to the nw not sure if I should hold out n see if it goes back to sw like it waS all morning or get out b4 its to late. Planned on being here till dark
Small buck just came through chasing 3 doe 100mph. 10mins b4 that I missed another run down, could only be see a$$'s going the other way. Got to love this wind!!
Here in New York our buck to doe ratio is way out of balance. Although this year it seems a little better. Any one ever have luck rattling bucks in because it just plain out doesnt work for me!
I saw a buck chasing a doe that had to fawns with her. Never got a good look at his head gear though. 10 mins later I saw an a$$ with its flag up goin the opposite direction. Then at about 830 saw a nice 2nd rack cruising and hit him with a few grunts that brought right to the base of my tree. Thank god for the tree-brella! Still ended up pretty wet but not as bad as it could have been!
What a night! The fun has officially started! This evening I passed a nice 8 and had a ton of action from 4:30 till dark. Had deer around me the whole time. Heard 2 bucks lighting up the woods like WWIII, one which I believe was the one I passed. The other didnt sound like a 6pt by any means. Had grunting all around me for the last hour and a half non stop. Man am I glad after tomarrow no more work for most of November.
This is trail cam pic of the one tonight. .......
A few more deer I killed with my camera........
Hunted a small private pond Sunday since there was more wind than I like for deer hunting. Lots of ducks flying, but due to some poor shooting and ducks not committing we didnt far as good as we would have liked. Not as many geese around this weekend like there was last.......go figure. Ended up with 5 Mallards and 4 Canada's.
Congrats on the bird! I agree on the corn deal also, theese pics are of home grown corn that we planted on our lease. Last night I whent through with the 4 wheeler and layed some trails down to funnel the deer to me rather than sitting over standing corn that I cant shoot my bow into. O yea and it actually worked!!
Dan that is awsome! Makes me want to try and film one. Is that just a go pro mounted on your head? I got a agree with you that it does look like the shot was a little high. Best part of the video is hearing your response to the "miss". Wish the camera would have been rollin when you found him because im sure the response was much different! Congrats again and great job letting all of us live that moment with you.
P.S. I didnt see $h!t last night but my connected on a nice 10pt. Its starting to really happen.
