I too am trying something new this year, being hunting just enough to get my fix and wait till the goin gets good. Past years I usually hunted 5 out of 7 days a week at the very least. I pretty much have the whole month of sweet November off, and thats when my wife will have to pry me out of the tree!
Nocturnals are the only Rage product I will use! They are great.
From what I have "HEARD" the green ones will last 50hrs and the other colors only last something like 16hrs. Not sure if its completely true but sometimes to think about. I shoot the red and have not had an issue yet.
What it looks like on both sides of the deer all the way till you find it. Given a good shot is made, but then again all broadheads should if the placement is correct. ........
Put them in your garage, basement, barn, shed..... selling is the last thing to do if only room is the problem. If MY house was burning down first the family is getting out then my mounts! Everything else is replaceable!
That set screw should be holding the shaft that runs through the center of your spool. If it is below the spool dia. It will not work. I would pull the screw right out and rotate the pin in the center and find another hole to lock down on. There should be multiple holes in that pin.
You have to strip roughly 24-36in of the coating off the cable. The best way is to burn it off with a lighter. After coating is removed take a piece of sand paper and clean the wire cable. Then just feed the cable through the small hole on the side of the cannon spool, use a crimp to keep it from pulling back through. Then wined the stripped cable around the spool by hand making sure the stripped cable is making good tight contact with the stainless set screw on the bottom off the spool. Before you do all that make sure you run the cable the through the antenna and boom swivel. Makes it alot easier to wined on the spool, so you dont have to re fish every thing. This should get you goin.
To some it up real quick. They said the Bait population is right at the average mark this year. WRONG! Also the Chinook numbers were a little above average the year! WRONG. O yea Cormorants just hang for a week or so and they are gone! WRONG
From what I have heard NYS is talking about doing some sort of antler restriction. Not sure how true it is but I agree that it would be great if they did. I highly doubt they will given the number of deer that are running around, granted probably more then 75% are does. The grounds in NY definitely have the potential to grow monsters like they do out west if they are given the time to grow. Which its not all that often they get the chance to do so. Where I hunt its only 200acres so we are obviously not managing, but we sure as hell are trying to. The best thing to do is try to get all the neiboring property's to be on the same page. Also if everyone shot more does the bucks would have no choice but to grow.
I couldn't agree more with using Matt! I have played the taxidermy game for a number of years now. With a ton of disappointment when receiving my game back! Last year I took a buck to Matt with hopes that I would finally have a "guy" I could trust to do a good job. When I received the buck back, thats exactly what happened. The deer completely out looks all of my other ones that I have had done by so called taxidermist. For once I finally have a deer that looks alive and like it did when it was harvested. Would recommend him to everyone.
