  1. I think you have to get the good gold tips. Bought my first dozen almost 20 year's ago. Still have 5 left. Now to be fair I do have some newer ones that have never seen a broad head cause there garbage. But like I said they are cheap ones that the bow shop threw in for me. I also have new Easton Fmj's. And every deer season the same old goldtips find there way into my quiver. They have been shot from many bows refleched even more and yet still get the job done. The bottom line is all brands have cheap stuff in the long run you always get what you pay for. Lower grade arrows are not as straight and consistent for weights both of which make for an inconsistent shot. IMO Dave

  2. Adam maybe he saw that on tv. I know every time I squeezed the trigger the last thing I wanted was to wound. Not to mention the 5.56 is not .223 it's a hotter load. And you would have to be an idiot to use a military or a fmj on game. But to go back to post with right bullet and right placement the .223 is extremely deadly on deer. I have used it and still do. Is it the best no but in the right place and with the right shooter it's plenty. And no it's not the only rifle I own, and yes I reload and shoot alot.

  3. Frisco you are hard pressed to have all speeds read the same. The probe just gets you an idea of what the speed is. It's like a car there not perfect you will have to play a bit.

  4. Magazines are a common cause of feeding jams in all guns. That's the first place I would look. That's why I always test and marked the ones I used for overseas.

  5. I killed them April 5th on Cayuga. Was using big streamers with 3 hooks and home made mylar trolling flys. Run 100 to 150 feet back. No lead needed. You could but I don't. The thing to remember is with calm water and Sun it will be a waste of time doing it. You don't need the boards to do it. Oh the flys I tied are like the ones you would use for a flasher.

  6. Let's see planer mast broke, cable for moor shot. Coated cable wound up on shaft. Ball bounced off other rigger while on way up lake, by by ball 400 feet of cable and release. Got two Lakers through one back only to find out it was a keeper. A couple bird's nest to. Should have stayed home popped pain killers and had a shot o Jim.

  7. True but heavy wind and waves solo is not so fun. Mark thanks I was thinking same thing. I think I will put in at Myers then go West side. I have big land locks on the mind. Did well a few weeks ago with bad weather. I'm thinking overcast flat lining flies. Dave
