Happy Father’s Day to all our dads out there! Sorry for the late post but as the saying goes....... On the east end the bays still have some fish. Walleyes are here and there if you want to focus a fair amount of time into them. Bass seem to be just about everywhere in the bays. Pike and pickerel fishing the weeds is still good. Alewife still have a strong presence in the bays and all species are full of them. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Fished 160 to 180 fow. Cowbells and gambler rigs did the job. Ran copper, 10 color, DD’s, and no other action. All fish taken off the deep riggers. Salmon seem dismal on our end, a stray steelhead here and there, browns are who knows where. Hopefully better bite ahead. These fish a stuffed with alewife’s. Our bays are flooded with bait right now. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Henderson and Stoney
wallaholic replied to newmike's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Well gang our area is one of a trophy fishery and never been a numbers fishery. NYS DEC says the numbers are booming for walleye population and we rely exclusively on natural reproduction. There have been days when everything aligns and we put a double digit limit in the box and that has happened a couple times this season but the time and dues paid can be brutal. At the best of times the very next day and often within the same day they shut down or migrate. They are walleyes and we love them. With the bait in masses here you would think something has to give soon. If you want to come here to catch a trophy it may take a couple of attempts. If you are looking to fill the freezer Oneida and Erie are the target destinations. Good luck out there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
Henderson and Stoney

It was great to have you out. The bite on the eyes is still a grind with a stray or two here and there. The alewives have showed up in all the bays from Stoney Point light to Tibet’s Point. Browns are hard to come by as well. There still remains a pike bite with some really quality size. Some boats are stumbling across a king or steel head out in the open waters. Pickerel are remaining steady but shallow trolling is getting more difficult as the weeds are up to the surface in the back bays in up to 12 fow. The perch are starting to bite pretty well, we did a couple hundred Saturday and Sunday since everything else is slow right now. The lake trout are big and remains a staple for success for clients to reel in a trophy. Better fishing ahead is what we are looking forward to. The bass are on their beds doing their thing. Only a few weeks until the opener. The Pillar Point Fire department and Henderson will both be hosting Bass/Walleye Derbies on opening weekend so help support our local organizations. Hit the water last night after work with my cousin for 3 hours. The word was the morning bite was epic. Although we managed 3 fish the screen and results did not match the morning report. The big fish was 31 1/4” and weighed 12 lbs. I have not fished the derbies for a few years now but this would of shook things up like we did in the past. Walleye bite continues to be a grind on the east end. You earn every fish that comes to the net. Temps still have not moved and actually cooled off last night as sub 50 is the normal. Grind is all I can say and work work work. Not to mention dodge, duck, dive the chaos of boat traffic. Another female cleaned this weekend full of eggs. That’s 5 on the season so far. Stomachs have had gobies, bugs, small sheepsheads, perch, and one alewife. Pike, pickerel, silver bass, perch have also hit. The big fish of the weekend was a 42”, 21” girth, 6 plus inches wide across his head and down the back pulling down the scale just under 24 lbs. A replica is going to be made of this so if anyone has a recommendation for an artist who pay this giant the respect she deserves please share. The bite remains very tricky on the eastern end. Tuesday yielded 2 eyes and a pickerel on a 6 hour trip. We dropped one more at the net and had a few others come unbuttoned before getting a visual. A difficult day by the rest of the fleet as well with most residing to the pike and pickerel for their focus. Others gave up and went after the trout. Temp remains in the upper 40’s with 52 in a couple of places in the back bays. Better bite ahead! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Saturday we shoveled the snow out of the Grady White to give it the first try under our ownership for opening weekend of Walleye and Pike. 25 plus fish hit the deck after coming to the net. It was a mix of Walleyes, Pike, Pickerel, Steelhead(unexpected but awesome non the less) and a few perch. Sunday they were a little tricky but similar results. Steady action and the rain on Sunday was better than snow and cold. Welcome to opening weekend! Sorry for the lack of more and better pics, didn’t have a lot of recovery time to focus on the camera lol. Last year if y’all remember it started snowing on Sunday of opening weekend and stayed for a week with highs in the low 30’s. 🥶. Bring back some sunshine all you north county snowbirds!
