  1. Launched out of Deans Cove and headed on a south troll and set up shop in about 150 foot of water.. We ran rigs coppers cores wires and riggers.. The quality fish that had been in this particular area were not there so we quickly decided to go over to another spot that we do really well but hadnt done too hot there this year.. Well its a good thing we did because soon as we moved into 150 fow it was game on boating many lakers until we moved in to the zone and it was like on cue rainbows and landlocks and one king yes I said king. Lol... We had some great board smashes and and even lost a board due to a pretty nice rainbow that jumped at least 10 to 15 times after smashing a Iron Duke FLT spoon on a 200 copper.. We ended up with a pretty decent box of fish and headed to weigh in.. We end up second on the day with a 5 fish 31 lb box of finger lakes gold and retained our points lead... We had one of those days were if it could go wrong it did we lost lots of fish a board, 200 copper , and wadded up a 7 color and 5 color core together but I can't say enough about our crew they keep it together when things are bad and keep on trucking and working together to get everything back together and in the water and fishing again... I cant tell you how big of a thank you i owe Bob Fuller from FINGER LAKES TACKLE for setting me up with his top notch spoons and custom paint paddles and painting stuff i need a week in advance so i have what i need even if hes busy, this season im having wouldnt be happening with out his quality work thanks Bob... Ok back to this king thing.. We caught this fish and when I got it out of the water I was like "what the hell" if this fish is not a young king it looks exactly like one.. We sent pics to Dec to see if they could give us any kind of explanation but haven't heard back yet but when we do I will post results on post already going about it... Cayuga lake definitely has it going on right now some real quality fish being caught after the boxes I have seen come to the scales during our 2 club tournaments there this year...

  3. Called blueghost to join me for a last minute trip since the boat has been parked on the lake since the derby due to fishing the big pond with FLX Troller the past month and a half. Left dock around 5:30 and headed to the north end east side. Set up gear running 4 riggers and 2 dipsey in 90 fow. Moved in to 80 fow and screen light up. First fish on 150 dipsey pulling mountain dew spinny with a white chartreuse fly. Second fish came on same set up and then doubled with 88 rigger with green dot seneca ghost. Crossed over at the dragon wall with nada. Turned back around and hit same way points picking up a few more lakers on the 88 and 80 rigger. Picked up a small rainbow on the 55 rigger pulling a fl uv sea sick waddler. Also missed one that slammed the 25 foot rigger pulling a gold orange honey bee. Found the hook severely bent when checked lure. Worked that area till things just shut down at 8:30. Lots of good marks up there with lots of streakers just couldn't get them to go. Headed south on east side and marked a ton of fish and bait south of Pelican point marina but no takers. Ended morning 7 for 10. Very good quality lakers today 6-11lbs.

Way to go guys!!! Awesome fish..

  4. Thanks guys. It was a fun one. Figured it was just a typical laker on a rigger until it went airborn a couple times. They are so erratic at the back of the boat..

Glad to see your back at it!! Chicken feed was hot for us also last weekend. . Way to go !!

  8. Back when they used to have the hydroplane racing out at Sampson I didn't realize it was going on and had been trolling north of Dresden over on the west side of the lake nearly a couple miles away and when I got to the rock slide they started up the race and there was so much noise and water vibration I could feel it right through the hull (13 ft Whaler) of my boat and there were actually fish jumping out of the water in response to it almost like those flying silver carp you see down south (and other places unfortunately now) it was unreal. I just pulled my lines and headed for home.

I bet lol... I have no problem sharing the lake whatsoever but when you have close to 40 boats coming at you at 80 to 120 mph and lake is flat and vision is good up to a few miles there is no reason they couldn't have been a bit more cortious to the 6 or 7 boats fishing in that area..

  9. Ya it was a blast out there Mike and I'm glad you guys got into them big time. I almost forgot about the poker run, I was so pissed when that guy put his 500k boat down my side at that speed. What a joke that crap is I'd love to find where he lives and drive my car up and down his street at 100 MPH. No one should be able to go that fast on that lake. If one of those boats broke up it would go a mile down the lake taking out every thing in its path.

Yeah Sean it was a great day and thanks for giving me a heads up on what was going on in your area... Those guys with the big expensive boats not saying ours aren't lol but they would be the first to **** if we did that to them but in their eyes it's ok to do to us.. Definitely uncalled for... Thanks again Sean

Nice report, glad you guys found some fish, sounds like a great day (minus the obnoxious boats), I'm stuck inside at work this weekend so nice to live vicariously

Seemed like a good weekend for silvers all over the lakes. Nice report.

  11. Planned on leaving the dock at 5 AM but after looking at radar we decide to wait it out and let storm past before launching and man am I glad we did... Nastiest thunderstorm storm I may have ever seen crazy lightning and huge huge thunder... Took two friends and their girlfriends out for a trip while they were home for out 20th class reunion (man am I getting old) lol.. Well we ran north and to the west side and set up shop running riggers cores coppers and dipsys.. We end up picking up a few small lakers but not the quality of fish that had been in that area so decided to do some searching and it payed off big time we ended up finding a great pocket of rainbows and landlocks and they really kept us on our toes smashing FLT spoons on the riggers left and right we must have caught at least 8 rainbows in that particular area.. we ended the day going 17 for 18 ... I have to mention that the power boat association was there running a poker run and had absolutely no respect for any of us fisherman including a good friend who was running a charter and one of those 300,000 dollar boats passed him on starboard side I believe within 50 ft and one passed us on port side probably at 70 to 100 ft and these boat we're running close to 100 mph, that is totally uncalled for and that's the reason we have accidents right there... Other than that great day on the water with some good friends..
