Few guys from work have been asking to get out and one of them happens to be getting married next month so what better of a little pre wedding present than a day of fishing... We headed out of Watkins and planned on setting up right out side of chute but garbage everywhere in the water so had to go to west side and wait to get in some cleaner water...We finally find it and get set up with the full spread of Dipsys cores coppers riggers... We get into a small bow right off the bat but other than that it was slooooooow for about 2 hours after that .. Noticed the surface temp was down almost 7 degrees from last week and looks like lake may have turned over... Marked a ton of bait and arches on the Lowrance but they where a bit finicky for a while but stuck at it and im glad we did because about 10 o'clock it was game on we doubled up twice and caught many quality Landlocks and browns and lost one monster bow on a three color pulling a FLT Over reactor. .. We ended the day about 1 o'clock going 14 for 17 small cores and coppers where the hot ticket once the action picked up and we pulled off the GRAND SLAM TWICE and had a happy bunch of fisherman already asking me when they could go again lol.... Finger Lakes Tackle did all the damage... Blue alpha alewives chicken feed and a couple spoons Bobby made for me that need to go into production but I dont want them too lol... The boys forgot there cooler so had to rig up a stringer to hold some of there dinner fare as you will see in one of the pics... Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I believe if you have the riggers grounded correctly they will stop automatically when the ball breaks the surface... Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

On the first day of the derby the scales in Watkins are run by the FLTA and they are very educated fisherman who know there species of fish ... On the other days of the derby I cant vouch for them but do know on those days there should be someone there with a little more knowledge but remember guys its hard to find people to run the scales on any day so be appreciative we even have those people because without them we wouldn't be having these tournaments. ...Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Poke pole always starts crap on here... He's that guy that gets happiness out of TRYING make others miserable just like him... He always has some negative things to say about everything. Far as im concerned these guys won the Derby fair and square and passed the polygraph nothing else needs to be said... Keep sucking on your sour grapes pokepole aka (Pot stirrer) Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

You guys always do a great job putting your clients on fish and both have great personality and knowledge of the sport and lakes and even on slow days you still give your clients an experience to remember and thats why your both top notch and that keeps people coming back for more... Keep up the great work !! You too Joey.. lol Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Well finally got my boat back on Tuesday after having a new long block put in her due to a crack in the block so decided after doing a few other things to her to drop her in the water on Friday night with Joe (Keepin it Reel) and head out to put a few break in hours on her meter.. She sounded great so we headed out the canal and slowly brought her up to plane... She was purring like a kitty and that made me feel so relieved that we decided to put some lines in...Trolled with kicker up west side boating a few fish but nothing major and to be honest I really didnt care just felt good to be back out there with my boat.... We picked up lines and started to head back in and about halfway back I start to lose oil pressure bring her back down to idle Joey lifts hatch and we have oil coming out so shut her down and troll 3 miles back to Watkins on Kicker. .. Talk to Marina that night and they had someone there early next morning for the Repair and they went out of there way to get the oil lines because no one had any in stock so they had them built so I could be back on the water that afternoon.. Cant say enough about the guys at Off shore Marine for everything they did ...(highly recommend them)....So out that afternoon solo to put a hour or two of break in time on her but couldn't go out with out putting a few rods down 7 color and a rigger and the seven color takes off right in the middle of a sailboat race (of course) lol and it was quite the battle steering thru all the boats and landing the nice 7.5 salmon.... Sunday I headed out at 530am with Danny from Hills Valleys and Streams on what I thought was gonna be a great day but fishing was real slow only boating 2 fish in 6 hours a Brown which Danny decided would be great table fare and a small bow.. We were hooked up numerous times early but kept losing them.. I told Danny it was him lol but it wasn't they were short striking or just smacking the spoons and not taking couldn't keep them hooked up.. Some new top secret Finger Lakes Tackle spoons took all the fish this weekend .... Overall just happy to have my ride back and look forward to seeing everyone out there again Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Those browns were all from Keuka and same group of guys... The guys were anchored up on a house boat in is favorite brown hole.. He told me that they where on a house boat with rods off all sides with bells on them, they would play cards until they heard a bell go off and it was a Chinese fire drill, all of them trying to fit through the same door to get out to the rods.. lol... Definitely was a banner day....Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Launched out of the South Shore Marina fishing the Finger Lakes Trollers Assosiation Tourney and ran North, found some good looking water and decided to setup in a 100 fow a bit before where I planned ... We ran rigs, cores, coppers and riggers... Well it didn't take long and we were bringing laker after laker to the boat... The lakers wanted small spoons and red and orange were hot colors.. We got 3 decent lakers in the cooler and decided to sneak in a bit shallower and found some good bait and nice marks and worked the area for a bit and changing out a lot of colors until we found out what the fish wanted and it finally paid off landing 2 really nice Rainbows and releasing the smaller of the 2.... About mid morning started heading back south and all the boats that where focused to the south end in the morning were up north now so we had the southend to ourselves so focused out deep and found some real active marks and dropped the gear to them and it was game on instantly improving our laker box in 10 mins... We needed 1 more off fish so snuck back in shallow for one last shot at a brown and it pays off bringing a nice 4.5 brown to the boat..... We ended the day going 19 for 19 and headed to the scales... Knew we had a good box but thought it would probably be a close one with all the great competition and fisherman in our club... We end up pulling off the win with a total weight 25.11 lbs and taking home the FLTA Owasco Tournament ... Finger Lakes tackle and some of our old O&M lures were the hot ticket today, bright colors seemed to be the ticket.... Great job to all that fished and see you at Cayuga the 22nd.... Mike
