  1. Fished out of Watkins with Joe (Keepin It Reel) my son , Bill and Butch.... We setup shop right out of the canal ... We ran cores coppers dipsys and riggers... Didnt take long and we had our first fish on and bring a nice 4 lb brown to the boat and the fish just continue to come from there... We get up the lake a bit and Bam !! 400 copper going and bang!! there goes the 12 color core rippin line!! DOUBLED UP!! We get a 4lb Salmon and 6lb laker to the boat and attempt to get reset after all the mayhem.... We finnaly get a breather for a few and the 250 dipsys takes off like a big salmon strike but pulls lots of drag, I am lucky enough that it happen to be my turn so I get to fight this one, after a lengthy strong fight we get a glimps of what we think is gonna be a decent Landlock and nope 9.5 bow in the net.... I tried hard to revive her but couldn't get her to go so in the box she goes.... Finger Lakes Tackle Spoons and Big Weenie Flys did all our damage today... Flt blue uv alewive and death from above were our best spoons by far and Big Weenie Seneca Ghost and Filthy Frankie were our hot flys.. We had an awesome morningon the water .. Me and Joe tried to figure it out at the end and we went 22 for 24 with a great class of fish and some absolute beautiful silver fish... Hoping to back out tonight if the storms don't pop up.... Mike
  2. Thanks guys.... We had some real screamers on including a dipsy that was set out at 255 and after the first and second run it was out 561 but that fish straightened out the hooks on us.... Battery died on the GoPro before we got into the real action ... Guess I need to get a piggy back battery pack for it.... Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Well arrived at Fair Haven at 5 AM after a two hour drive with my friend Matt and my girlfriend and as soon as we got the boat in the water we realized we had forgotten the net .... We contemplated waiting for Screwie Louis to open but thought we might miss primetime fishing so after a vote we decided to go with out .... We headed out the shoot and headed east a bit setting up shop in about 110 fow... We ran 4 dipsies and 2 riggers and 2 coppers... We started out a bit slow only boating a few small kings til about 830 and then it was like someone flipped a switch and it was big king time..... We get our first decent king on and I give the rod to my girlfriend who is still recovering from shoulder surgery and she does her best for a while but starts hurting and hands the rod back over to me and we have our first decent king at the side of the boat (video below) and no net so matt decides to put a glove on and try to reach up and grab her under the gil , it works but with one more flop the fish get out of Matts grip and back to the lake she goes.... Oh well this went on for hours we would have been boxed out by ten if we had the net...... Overall it was a great day boating some nice kings a laker and a steal head.. White crush glow spinny with green dots pulling a Big Weenie Seneca Ghost Fly was our hottest setup taking over half our hits... We lost some really big fish today due to no net and a few that straighten out the hooks but we went 12 for 23' got some great videos and pics and couldn't have asked for a better day... I fish the finger lakes religiously but this king fishing has really gotten a hold of me... Im thinking a couple weeks vacation and docking the boat up there next year..... 5. Thats a great practice Lakertaker187 but I fear there is a bigger problem than that going on there... The Lampreys are out of control , when you bring up a 5 lb laker and the lamprey attached is almost the same size as the fish thats unreal and almost every fish accept for my last trip there I have had at least one lamprey if not three attached to each fish... I know when Dec lampricided Seneca there was a little bit of worry about the chemical but nothing major happened accept for a huge decline in lamprey eels ... So I really think they need to give it a shot on Cayuga as well.... Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Wow !! Been a while since my last post... Busy Busy this year.... Had a FLTA tourney on Cayuga .... Launched out of Dean's Cove and ran south just short of Sheldrake and set up shop... We ran cores coppers riggers wires and rigs.... We get the last rod in and BANG !! 200 copper goes pulling a FLT Death From Above, board going back quick and grab the rod and a great fight all the way to the boat and was a bit surprised that the the fish was a 6 lb Laker ... Get the rods back in the water and nothing for a long time other than the 20 + 10 inch landlock salmon with all three trebles in there mouth almost every time , very impressive for such a small fish I must say.... We work in to some different water and bang a couple small 18 inch lakers and had to keep them for our box cause we are running out of time.... We were starting to pick up the rods for the run in and we get a hit on the shallow rig and get a nice little bow to the boat and in the box..... Was very disappointed on our way in knowing we only had maybe 12 pounds of fish in the box and it usually takes at least 25 to 30lbs to be in the top 5 in this tourney and definitely questioning my decision on where to fish out there today ... We get to weigh in and find out after chatting to everyone there that it was slow for most boats and end up pulling off the win and lunker and taking over the overall points lead for the season so far..... Congrats to everyone who fished and to my buddy Joe ( Keepin it Reel ) on his second place finish and a hell of a first season as a member of the club ... Keep it up Joe !!! Mike

Had a great day catching over 15 fish but just couldn't find the bigger lakers.... Great job Billy V and crew... It was great to see everyone at weigh in... What a beautiful day on the water and cant wait til next year.... Mike
  21. Piece of foam pool noodle that kids use in pool to beat the crap out of each other work great.... put a couple extra bead chains above the rest of your rig and attach the noodle to them ..... this setup works great ... Run in straight down the chute and way out for best results.... Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Nice report... Fleas sucked just as bad Sunday all over everything including spoons and snaps.. I did switch my rigger rods over to flea line the night before and man am I glad I did.... 24. Saturday we decided to do some pre fishing for a Flta Tourney we had the next day.... We went way north and setup shop running riggers wires coppers and cores... The laker bite was good pulling many fish 6lbs to 10lbs including a nice one my son got to play pulling drag on him many times throughout the fight on a 300 copper pulling a Finger Lakes Tackle UV Alewife, also ran that spoon on my 90ft rigger and it pounded them all morning... Wires where a bit quiet today but Iron Duke Fly behind a watermelon spinny did a few and so did the Seneca Ghost Fly as well .... We ended up the morning 12 for 13 and overall a great family morning on the boat .... Sunday we fished in the same spot with the tournament crew, ran the same setup catching many fish but didn't have the size that we had Saturday... FLT UV Alewife and Death From Above were unstoppable, Alewife doing the lakers and a few off fish but the browns bows and salmon were all over the Death From Above spoons i had out in a few different spots in the mix..... We ended up 16 for 19 and finishing tied for 3rd in our tourney... Below is the picture of our box.. Big Congrats to JSolemeto for his first win in his second ever FLTA tournament.... Mike
  25. Great report and great job Joe !!!!! Cant wait til this weekends LOU ALL !! Mike
