Got up to camp early Friday night so the girfriend and I decided to head out for some fishing and sun..... We ran north out of Watkins about 3 miles and setup shop on a south troll.... We ran spoon dipsys, riggers, 5 color core and 200 copper... Slow at the start and weeds and cotton woods were herendous but managed to get a few browns to the boat but the best thing was watching the girlfreind beat me to the riggers, I think she is getting the hang of this whole fishing thing..... Finger Lakes Tackle Co did all the damage and especially Chicken Feed, If you dont have this spoon its a must have.. (thank me later) Happy Fathers day to all the Fathers out there but a BIG special Fathers Day to my Father for everything he has done to help me thru life this far and teach me all about the Finger Lakes and this trolling fishing addiction we both have .. Thanks Dad !!!! Mike

Cannon MAG 10 STX Electric Downrigger bases
Iron Duke replied to ERABBIT's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
You guys wanna fix your Cannon problems ??? Trade them in for Scottys !!!! Hands down the best !! Had them all and will never buy another rigger other than Scotty... Customer service seems to be a huge problem with Cannon and to be honest with you would love to tell you that Scottys customer service is better but have never had to call them..... Mike -

Headed out of Watkins at 5 AM and ran North to E Rabbits neck of the Lake ...... Had Danny from Hills Valleys and Streams on board for his second ever trip and he was excited to get at them..... We ran dipsys riggers and cores..... Had one dipsy down and was setting the other and wham oh !! Spoon dipsy starts pounding, so handed it to Dan and he got a decent lanlock to the boat and released to fight another day.... We managed to gets all the rods in the water and rigger fires with a fat little Brown and the browns bite countinued for about an hour and it shut off and then the lakers turned on we boated a few of those before that bite died ... Told Danny we were one Rainbow away from the SLAM and about 10 minutes later I see shallow the rigger release and yelled to Danny to jump on it but before he could get it out of the holder its was already on its first acrobatic jump and then another and he threw the spoon .... Oh well it happens, tell Danny we might get another chance... We trolled back south for quite a while before Bang !!!!! Our Second chance on the rigger again... Hand it off to Danny and we get this one to the boat after one short run.... All fish were released to fight another day except for one small table fare brown for Danny..... Overall great day on the water and managed to pull off the GRAND SLAM ...... Mike

Switched this year from the Okuma rods to Ugly Stick BW 1101 light action 8'3 rods and the are the best leadcore and copper rods I ever had .. You can feel the fish movements so much better and they handle even big copper fine.... Mike Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Seneca 6/2/13.....10 foot rigger was hot!
Iron Duke replied to apb's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Your doing everything right ..... Leader length is a preference, I like at least 30 to 50 ft of 12lb fluoro carbon ..... I let all the 3 colors or whatever amount you are letting out into the water completely and then attach the tx 22 then I actually put a small rubber band around the release on the board to stop the board from slipping down the line when you get in to a big fish that acttually pulls the board under when they hit ( It happens trust me)... When they pop out of the release and fall all the way back to the spoon or lure of your preference this gives the fish enough leverage to pull the hook so keeping it attached to the line helps tremendously...
