The Harbor Hotel would be an excellent place to stay or there are many great bed and breakfasts to stay at also along the lake and also some great wineries .... Glenora wine cellars has places to stay also that would be perfect.... Hope this helps and if you need and other questions answerd feel free to PM Reel Hooked up or myself ... Mike

  4. Well this post is a bit late but wanted to share.... A friend of mine offered to let me borrow his beautifully rigged 18 ft Alumacraft for the day cause he knew I was gonna lose it if I didnt get out on the lake soon .. So I grabbed another buddy and we got hooked up and left Elmira about 6am Thursday morning and headed to the lake ... The weather was not looking good they were calling for winds out of the west 20 to 30 with gust up to 45 mph and they werent lying... So joe and I where doubtful on if we would be able to get out or not but when we got there the west side looked great so we decided to give it a shot ... We putted out of the south end marina and set up shop just passed the break wall we ran a copper a core and four dipsy's rods.. We got just south of the salt plant and bang !! Fish on !! Got that fish about half way in a bang other wire fires !! Doubled up !!! We had a great day of fishing we went 14 for 16, just one brown short of the slam... The laker fishing was on fire we caught some real nice laker on spinnys and BIG WEENIE flys and also ran a some new spoons from Finger Lakes Tackle CO that Bobby custom painted for me and they produced the off fish on the boards... Check there website out http://fingerlakestackle.com/, These spoons are up and coming on the Finger lakes.. They look great in the water and the paint is Amazing..... Heres a few pics from the day... Mike
  5. The ones from Bretts are not Ls' s there just L's so they are not high speed reels ... Hills Valleys and Streams in Elmira NY has the Ls' s in stock.... Mike [ Post made via Android ]
  6. Great job and great report guys!!! Looks like you and your Big Weenies are at it again ... I will have to get some of those Filthy Frankies ..... Warm weather moving in for next week Im sure im gonna have to get out there for some southend fun... Mike
  7. Great Job Nick !!! Cant wait til this year !!! Mike
  8. Nick in my eyes your tournament was a complete success.. The date change will be fine by me as long as it doesn't interfere with one of my club tournaments.... Great job last year and really looking forward to this year... will help in any way I can, just let me know... Mike [ Post made via Android ]
  9. Definitely interest... where are you located? Mike [ Post made via Android ]
  10. BrookTrout the Laker bite is def picking up... That particular salmon was down about 90 ft, picked him up on a mag dipsy with 255 ft of wire out ... The last few weeks most of the decent fish were up in the water column but yesterday they were deep and so wasnt the bait 80 to 150 fow ... PM me if you need anymore info, be glad to help out.... Thanks flyac !!!! Mike
  11. Lol...Yeah guys hes left handed... I have tried to get him to try to reel them the right way but with no prevail... In his defense i do have a left handed okuma 45 on the boat and when i do use it i always end up rolling it over to because it is so awkward.... Mike [ Post made via Android ]
  12. Launched out of the Southend around 7 and straight out the chute and setup shop.... We ran coppers, cores, dipsys and top lines ... The fishing started out extremely slow with a few small landlocks a hour for the first couple of hours we slowly worked north do to lack of fish in the southend and no bait being marked on the Lowrance.... As we worked into an area that I do really well in the spring The dipsy rods started popping some of the Nastiest hits I've seen in a while include a drag peeling liter breaking smash, would of loved to see that one ..... But the fish we did put in the boat thru that stretch were big and healthy and full of fight... We ended up 18 for 21 and a day that I thought might turn out to be a bust turned into a great trip real fast, that just goes to show that if you stick with your program and make some moves to put yourself in the fish the game can turn around real quick.... The spoon bite was non existint today but have to say the Big Weenie Iron Duke fly caught some pigs today behind a chrome and blue spin doctor and white crushed glow spin doctor, Big Weenie Seneca Ghost and Fruity Frostcicle also did there fair share of damage also.... Never mounted the GoPro today but pulled it out at the end to get some footage toward the end of the day and a cooler shot of a few of the fish the guys decided they wanted to keep, so heres a link to the video Mike
  13. Lol Nick!! Mine would have to be the tried and true seth green rig.... My father taught me to run these when i was around five years old and they never fail on coming thru.... Don't get me wrong i would much rather fight fish on much lighter tackle but if i need to put fish in the boat that setup would be the first thing in the water... Mike [ Post made via Android ]
  14. If you could only use one rod and reel setup for trolling to put fish in the boat what would be your choice and why?? What would your old faithful be? ? Just curious what everyone's money setup would be..., Mike [ Post made via Android ]
  15. Yeah thats where we are talking about but the launch is free when the campground is closed for the season... I think we thought you were asking if Glen Harbor Marina was open too but they are closed for the winter .... Yeah that launch can grab your trailer quick if your not cautious when the water is low, as long as you dont back past the last pylon on the ramp you will be fine..... Mike
  16. Mosh, not sure of there winter hours but the number is 607-535-2751 if you want to call and check.... Mike [ Post made via Android ]
  17. Not sure how big of a boat you have but we launched there no problem with a 20ft Trophy last weekend..... But still be carefull because it is real easy to back off the ramp there and it is a big drop, have seen many people do it and have actually seen axels lost on that ramp...... Mike
  18. No im not Marty... . Still at the Southside store but if you want anything sent up there for you let me know and someone can bring it up... . Mike [ Post made via Android ]

  21. The Finger Lakes Trolling Associations annual fishermans flea market will be held March 24th 2013 this year due to Easter falling on the last Sunday of the month, just a heads up to you guys and gals ...It still will be held at the Clute Park Community Center in Watkins Glen NY... I always look forward to this event due to all the great new and used fishing equipment you can pick up... Hope to see you all there Mike
  22. Lol thanks Marty!! Im just lucky to have a great woman in my life who lets me use MOST of my free time to fish.... Haven't seen you lately at the store, stop down and see me and bring your credit card of course... Mike [ Post made via Android ]
  23. Yeah Sean it was good fishing and hope to see that nice rig of yours back out there soon.... Reel hooked up and Ghost fly caught some nice lakers to down Deeeeep!! MIKE [ Post made via Android ]
  24. Launched out of the southend about 7 ish and went right out front and setup shop and headed up the westside... We ran coppers, cores, and dipsys... We instantly started putting lots of small landlocks in the boat anywhere from 15 to 20 inches .... We ran north a bit further with the same results but with a few bigger fish in the bunch... We went 23 for 25 with a Grand Slam.... The Big Weenie Iron Duke fly was on fire set at 230 and 255 out on the wires and Michigan Stinger blue and orange spoons did really well also on the copper's and leadcores.... Heres a couple pics and a link to a short video I shot today... Cant wait to get back out there !!!! Mike
  25. I think your on the right track with the dipsy rod and copper setup.... Dipsys are very productive rods when ran correctly... I suggest a basic okuma dipsy rod and okuma. 45 reel with a 1000 feet of wire and run with a mag dipsy on a 2 setting with spin doctor and fly to start.... As far as copper i would start with a 300 and invest in a church tx22 planner board to run it off of to free up space in the back of your boat.... both very effective setups all year...
