  1. Can anyone give me some do's and donts of running 2 lines off one rigger. I know it used to popular back in the late 80's. But I was young anddidnt pay attention to the rigging part. I have chamberlain stackers I was gonna use but any help or advice to avoid tangles is appreciated. Like how far above I can stack from bottom line? Which one should be a long lead? And what happens when a fish hits the bottom line

  2. You should pay attention to your down speed. 2.2-3.1 depending upon how they are feeling that day. But my boat might have a down speed of 2.4 andyour boat needs to go 2.8 to have the same lure action. Basically you'd have to set up a thumper rod andwatch the action at diffrent down speeds. Also you have to do it in many diffrent situations. Like trolling into the wind, with the wind. Running in the ditch, you see were this can get pretty scientific?

  3. Ive ran most and now only have atommik and big weenie. I like atommiks the best they hold up well. I like the big weenie flashabou flies more and more though. Not a fan of dreamweaver flies. Still have a few howies around. I haven't used the lj fly but if no has talked about it I wouldn't get your hopes up

  4. Mexico is combat trolling. Be prepared to pull your lines and turn hard at any time. Love it in the spring but this time of yr bigger boats wont give you a inch. Had a real bad experience there last saturday. Was on a str8 east heading another boat motored into my path. No biggie I start to head se. Ending up having to turn hard and head str8 w. All in about 5 minutes. Yeah wires in my Riggers copper was off the bow of my boat. Ill figure out who that guy was someday. He did it 3 times. It was str8 north out of the point in 144 fow. There has been kings there every weekend. Just some food for thought. I have waypoints marked all over there all with a 100 yds. So maybe you can go play crash course with him. Ill be heading west. Guys aren't so cut throat on the other side of oswego

  5. The best thing you'll ever do is ditch those balls and go to a shark or torpedo. The diffeence is night and day. Blowback on my probe with a 12 ball was almost 23 ft at 80 down. Went to a 15 lb torpedo and now its like 9 ft. So much easier

  6. Yeah but get put in 350 fow outta mexico and your like 7 miles offshore. That's a long ways for that wind to move with no restrictions. My advice would be to come up and if its too rough out there stay in the bay and play with the browns. After all this big west wind you shouldn't have to go any deeper than 60fow to find them. Hopefully the kings will come in a little closer too. Heard a report of kings entering the estuary. My guess is all that rain fooled a small pod andthey came in and probally turned right around and headed back out.

  7. Tom hit the nail on the head. I run blacks realeases and for the probe its on the rigger cable above it and I just hold it in place with a small planer release. If you run the line off the back of a shark or torpedo it will not track right cause you'll be pilling the rear up when you tighten down your rod
