  1. Spoons and cowbells. I don't remember what color cowbell, but it was on fire. At one point, it brought in a fish and it was only back in the water 30 seconds and it had another laker. [ Post made via Android ]

Caught our limit, including a 20lb 10oz entry in the derby. Also turned out to be the biggest lake trout entry for the day and currently #2 in lake trout. Went out deeper after we got our limits in lakers and hooked into a 9lb steelhead and 2 11-12lb kings. Non stop fish all day. Major kudos to Capt Broz! 2 derby fish in one 8 hour trip!! Pictures to follow of the derby entry fish when I get them on the computer.
  3. And for the update... I managed to get out Wednesday. Launched at 6am from the Genessee River launch. The swells were only ~1 foot, so I went out to 50 FOW, threw out some spoons, crankbaits and a flasher/fly. Depths varied, but had 1 release on a purple/black spoon. Did ~2-3 miles to the east at 50 feet, went in to 20 feet with a mix of crankbaits, at varied depths. No bites there. Since I didn't see any other boats around, I assumed they were all in deep water. I started out and made it to around 95 FOW when the swells got to be too much for my bass boat. Somewhere around 3 feet? I said I would call it when the nose of the boat was moving water. I could see 4 boats in the distance, but decided I didn't feel like swimming. I made it ~1/2 miles past a lit buoy out and to the left of the river mouth. When I turned around, the coast guard made a drive-by within 50 yards of me. I guess this was a nice way of making sure we had our life jackets on and saying we shouldn't be that far out, given the conditions. I got skunked, but it was great fun. At least I figured out what my personal limits were for my boat. Next time, I'll wait until the fish are closer to shore, and leave the deep water fishing to the pro's. It just give me a reason to book one when I feel the urge to go! Was anyone else out?
  4. Well put. I'm thinking I may need 2 days instead of just one...
  5. Has the rain the past few days brought the fish in any closer? I'm looking at the maps online that I can find for depths and 200-400 FOW is farther out than I think I want to venture with the forecast of stray thunderstorms Wednesday. I'd like to keep it within 2 miles from shore. I'm not 100% confident my 18.5' fiberglass bass boat can handle any waves over 2-3 feet. Not that it's in bad shape, I don't need to be the leaky boot and have to work the bilge pump taking on waves. How close in are the browns? Last year when I went with a couple charters, we seemed to be catching them pretty close to shore (within 100 yards) in 30-40 FOW. Is that the norm? They are a fun fish!
  6. Your secret is safe with me! I promise not to make a huge dent in the population. I'll be up for most of the day on Wednesday. Look for the Nitro bass boat with downriggers. Say hi if you are out and wish. I'll try to not be "that guy" Cheers
  7. Has anyone been out around the Genessee River mouth/Rochester area lately? I have been watching your reports from the east, but no one seems to be around Rochester. Cheers!
