Good luck. At least ya boated a few but know what u mean about rookies on board. Went out w my buddy yesterday whos a charter capt and man its nice when u have a crew that has experience. I typically take my kids and nephews and its about patience and teaching whichbis important but lower on the fun chart. 😀 Have fun out there. At lest its not raining yet -

Oh man. It was a cool experience. Yea. It must be near 20 miles off shore. We left from sandy. It was awesome though. The steelies wouldn't stop. I still have't landed a salmon on my boat. What the heck man!?? We marked solid fish and bait for a mile stretch, but at 350'. I only had 250 on my riggers so no chance. Wonder what they were that deep. Lakers??? I want to go again. It was very cool. But.... It is a bit of a cruise. Not something you want to do around weather. It was awesome today. Glass and 67 surface with breaks to 64 where we ran into the steelies. Trying to figure out how to post pics. But it was busy. Only two guys and we had multiple doubles and had our hand pretty full. -

I recently purchased a boat which came with a Beaver Trol. AWESOME for slowing the boat down in small increments as it's run hydralically. Bad thing is I must of left it down when taking off and there isn't a relief on the system so the stress snapped the metal at a hinge point. Oh man, gotta get this fixed so.... Looking for ideas. One of the pics shows the break right by the cylinder. Two things I see - need a way to fix of course and need a way to include a safety mechnism as I'm sure I'll forget to put this up again. Anyone know a good fabricator? It appears to be a caste or "white" metal type material. Seeing this is hydralic - I'm going to see if I can get some sort of relief valve when back pressure (i.e. throttling up on it) is applied. During normal troll - there shouldn't be too much pressure. This unit is absolutely sweet when it works so I'd really like to get it fixed ASAP. APPRECIATE any ideas guys and thanks in advanced. Few pics to help minds get going

Hi Guys, well - we made it out and started setting lines on the east side in 100 FOW by Thendara. My Beaver Trol broke and we couldn't get the boat under 3.3 MPH so after one rainbow we called it quits. Darn!!!! I picked up the bow 20' down if it helps.. Will be brainstorming on how to fix my Beaver Trol now. If anyone is real handy, I'll post a plea for ideas in the this old boat section.. I'll get her fixed up and back out ASAP!!!

Wanted Wanted : ST5000 autopilot controller
tannero replied to mjones 59's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I sent you a pm. Might be replacing my st5000 and would sell if i do. -
Hey chris. Thanks for the info. How tough is the manual steering after installing? Real bad or just a little tight? Ill have to research the difference in the different head units available. A few hundred diff between them and other than color and a turn knob, cant tell the diff but maybe there is something better under the hood. Was really bummed to find out my St5000 was missing the actuator. The auto pilot was a huge reason for getting the boat. Maybe for 2000 i can get the new one running if i getbpast the wife 😆

I may go with it then. Appreciate your replies. Nobody likes steering. And even worse when they do and tangle lines

Bought a boat which has a st5000+ autopilot but is missing the stern drive actuator. I dont know much about autopilots other than id like it to steer straight when fishing Being advised i should scrap the 5000 unit and replace with the raymarine Spx5r. Boat has cable to hydraulic. It is a 24' with an i/o. Dont want to get too deep into this but really do want the boat to go straight when fishing. Anybody have suggestions on a product or know anyone good at installing?
