  1. Nice report. Got a couple of days off here this week and might get out again too. Do you have auto pilot? Wish i could fish solo but not comfortable enough launching by myself. Gotta get my auto pilot fixed. Went nuts this weekend with my buddies tangling my lines
  2. Man oh man. Really sorry to hear but glad you are alive!!! I was just cleaning the gutters from all the darn maple spinners and told the wife i was never scared of heights but something put fear in me on saturday. She said its called getting old and wise. Same thing taking the kids on the carnival rides. Was never scared as a kid and i was ready to toss cookies.... Wish you a good recovery!
  3. Boyfriends!???? Ok. Yes, I remember what went through my mind as a teenager. I think I need to come up with really good distractions for my girls... 😠Haha
  4. Glad you had a lot of fun with our terrible weather
  5. My poor mans fix to going too fast was a 5 gallon bucket dragged on one or both sides of a boat. They stack, you can stuff things in when not using and also use as a johnny on the spot. 😃
  6. Ah.. Ok. I'll have to try the split shot out. That might get things a little deeper. Txs for the tip.
  7. Ok. Ill keep that in mind. Never seem to get anything off sticks on the boards but will keep trying.
  8. Nice job. Yea lake was a little rough for us smsll guys. I was pacing all dat but went out monday.
  9. Good report. Nice job on the variety
  10. Ran some sticks off the planers. What else do guys run off the planers? Lead core? I run the Laurvick clips so they really can't hold back too much pull - maybe guys run different clips for other options?
  11. Then she works up to the laker! Rod tip up.... Easy on his mouth - he'll come in.. Then... we land a laker that broke my flea market special net! I think he was still stuck in the mud when we pulled him on the boat Anyone have a suggestion for a good Lake O net. Likely have to hit Gander or Dicks....
  12. Daughter Kate reeling in a small bow then she worked up to a laker. She was having a blast..
  13. Hit the water around 630 and headed west to 120 fow. A few others already there. Did 4 lakers on dipsey and sd and flies out 200. Headed east and picked up another laker on a stinger down 111 over 120. Next went to 225 fow by braddock trying for salmon. Still never boated one. Flys on dipsys again. Riggers with a fly and stacke with spoons down 150. Nothing. Headed back in to 120 fow and picked up a bow down 70 on a shiny sutton and three more lakers. I think the lakers would eat a hook if you put it in front of them but the folks on the boat had a blast. Better then no fish. My 10 year old daughter had a blast her first time out on dads boat so that made my day!! She cant wait to go out again. Thats what fishing is about. Get the young kids into it!
  14. I launched out of sandy yesterday and I kept thinking. Boy I hope someone doesnt smash my truck or break in. Miss the days of going to the marina, jumping in and gone. Maybe next year. Sandy launch was un-eventful except for about 15 dock fisherman. One would think you would move a little when a boat is coming in or at least stand up. Nope. Not even reel up their rods.
  15. Hey Rob - going to launch at Sandy this Sunday. 2nd time fishing Lake O so.... If we want to simply catch some fish (trout or salmon) - what are our best chances to go after. Are browns in shallow still or gone? Head out deeper and look for marks between 100-200? I have a fish hawk and can find the thermo and hunt for marks - just wondering if you can pass a tip or two on how to figure out where to start off looking and what to look for. Realize this is huge subject so just a tip or two if you could pass on. From reading Ruff Rider's posts - looks like he goes out and looks for a change in the surface water temp or scum lines and starts looking there? Thanks in advanced and enjoy all the info you share - helps us new guys out a lot!
  16. Very nice words and yes, thanks to those who have served to keep us safe.
  17. Thanks. Going to look into those. Keep on fishing! Im dying here reading about all the excitement. This is like a soap opera for guys!!!
  18. Bought a boat which came with these bases. I'm a Scotty guy so my Scotty's went over these guys but they appear to be Cannon swivel bases in fine working order. Selling for $50 each or both for $80. I'm open to some trades also. Previously only fished Canandaigua for trout and I'm new to fishing Lake Ontario so I'm collecting gear for salmon and some of the larger fish.
  19. Enjoying all the posts. Getting us excited for the weekeend! Good luck out there
  20. Just ordered. Excited to read and learn more. Thanks for the advice on this book!
  21. This app is awesome. So much easier to read and keep in the loop!
  22. Sucks there are people breaking into cars at a launch. I too wish they'd put in cameras.
