  1. I really like your rail and holder system on the transom. Running a 241 proline and have a livewell built into my transom so there is a very narrow amount of "meat" to mount to. Where did you get your setup? Right now I dont have a way to hold a pole in that center window
  2. Thanks for the replies. Let's see how this works this weekend. I still have yet to catch anything on a fly after two years of trying but I think I was doing a few things wrong. Tie wire (no crimp) to large swivel. Dispey to wire - wire to 10' 40lb flouro - flouro to flasher - 22-24" inches to fly - troll 2.5 or so. I was previously only going a few feet between dipsey and flasher and also crimped rather then tied my swivel to my wire. Dipsey and flasher would get all tangled up. Also letting out to fast I think. Going to up my flouro leader from 30lb to 45lb from what I'm reading. Also going a little slow - I typically do 1.8 or so for trout - I'm reading I should be up closer to 2.4. The guys nail fish on fly and flasher - I can't wait to nail one. Haven't boated a salmon yet - maybe this weekend for the kids!
  3. Im going to set up a wire dipsey for a flasher and fly. My question is how do guys connect the fly to the flasher. Do you tie each time or use a swivel? Reason i ask is seems like guys like to play around with the length depending the size of the flasher or speeds you match a fly up to. Wondering if guys just tie a knot you can easily un-tie and adjust.
  4. I called fishhawk when my unit kept sutting off on me. The owner got on the phone and knew exactly what it was and was very nice to deal with. As u said. Great customer service
  5. Good report and looked like a good time!
  6. Ok.. Thanks for the reply. I'll try this launch out.
  7. Not familiar with the launch options on the genny. Have a 24' boat. Know about the state launch off lake ave. are there any others in the event lake ave is full? Maybe even private launch to avoid the crowds?
  8. Ok. Appreciate the feedback guys. Ill be out again trying.
  9. Had a 1/2 day in the afternoon so got on the water around 1pm. Started from Sandy headed east in 9-12 FOW with planers and sticks but nothing. Worked out to about 40 FOW and marked a lot but again - nothing. Went out to 120 worked into 90 and got into the lakers right on the bottom at 90 FOW with orange spoons. First time going after browns - I think you need to hit them in the morning. Anyone ever have luck in the evening on them? I also think you need a little bit of a mud or color in the water - is this correct? Water was crystal clear on Thurs. At least we got a couple lakers but really wanted to hit some browns.
  10. Thanks for the reply. I get out of work at 11am. Cant wait for the first trip to ontario.

  13. Nice report. Heading to sandy creek for my first run on a new boat. Will let the forum know how it works out. Doing a little reading up to see what is working.

  17. Bought a bunch of NK 28 and NK mag size spoon's at the LOTSA and forgot about asking what size treble hooks they run as they were just the blank spoons that I purchased. Anyone know what size typically comes with or works with these? I emailed and called NK but no answer - they might be busy making spoons
  18. What an AWESOME time my daughter and I had. I met a few folks I have chatted with on the forum and there were a few I heard were there but weren't sure which ones. Wanted to thank you guys for all the help and tips you give to the new guys like myself in person but here it is in thread as I wasn't sure who you were at the show. I learned a bit at the morning trolling session and hope I can make the next session in March! My daughter kept talking about the new fishing pole she got and how she can't wait to use it on the 90 minute ride home.. She's so exicited! What a great session the afternoon kids session was. Thanks for the show LOTSA!
  19. Wow. Stumbled across this thread while researching a fish hawk. This looks awesome for my daughter and I to talk with others and learn more about fishing lake o. Cant wait to get there!!!!
  20. I thank everyone for the feedback. I did some reading and it does look like the fish hawk is the recommended device by most. I'm going to keep reading but it does sound like this is a great investment for trolling. Heck, all the time and fuel we spend on the lake, try to make the most out of it if you can
  21. I'm going to start fishing in Ontario this year and wondered about the necessity of having a speed and temp sensor. I have talked to a few guys and said they'd rather have a speed and temp over any other gadget to find the thermocline as this is typically right where you want to fish. I've typically used my fish finder to to see where the bait and fish marks are to set my lures. I realize there is blow back and such but wanted to see how the forum weighs in? Speed and Temp a must have on L.O.? Any suggestions which ones to look at?
