  1. I used a 50 lbs SPRO on mine. Ran through the guides perfect on a 30 Saltist.

  3. I use 30-50 lbs big game for flashers. 15-20 lbs seaguar floro for spoons. I run mine 10-12 feet long, you need a long net or have to hand-line the fish into the net. For copper i run 20 lbs seaguar floro about 25-30 ft. Not sure of the exact size swivels. But they are small coastlock Torpedos, SPRO, Dreamweavers and Sampo. Sometimes i use the stock Dreamweaver swivels that come on a spin dr for the flashers.
  4. Had that happen on my 90 Mercury...on 2 different occasions. I changed the switch on the motor the first time. And the bow switch the second time. Over time...i think they get shorts if they get wet a lot.
  5. I'd love to jig up some kings! Might have to try that sometime.

  7. I use black or clear
  8. I think everybody has been there at some point.
  9. Starcraft Fishmaster 2100
  10. 25-60 was a better depth for us last Thursday. But then Sunday i fished out of Sodus and it was 60-90. Spoons on cores, riggers and dive bombs. And deep diving plugs took a couple. We had a mix of fish: lakers, steelies, browns, an atlantic and kings.
  11. Elephant perch!!
  12. IMO...any quality swivel is strong enough. I have the SPRO, Sampo and Dreamweaver swivels. I'm not afraid to run big paddles off of them either. This spring i've been using eagle claw 25 lbs snap swivels for browns. And we've landed 2 nice spring kings. No failures.
  13. We did well in the 20-50 ft range. A 19 lbs king, 4 lakers, 2 browns, a steelhead and an atlantic. And lost a screamer that was most likely a king.
  14. I'd get tourney drags for your Tekota's. The stock drags are pretty sticky. And whichever you choose between the convector or coldwater. I've used both Okuma reels and they seem great. I've never owned either just because i've heard of quite a few drag and/or clicker failures on both models. I have the daiwa sealine 47LC reels for wire and they've been great for 4 seasons! And come with tourney drags.
  15. The chain stores suck! Even Bass Pro has a pitiful trolling section.
  16. I got mine directly through Big Jon. Give them a call.

  18. Congrats!! That's a heck of a fish!!
  19. Sounds like a decent shakedown! The strings on those otters do have to be just right or they run like crap. I played with mine for a few hours in the garage the night before i ever used them. That was doing the upgrade for the dual keels. I used the metal blanks that come with newspaper bundles as washers on the back. They work awesome once they are dialed in!
  20. I do have bearing-buddy's. But i do most of my trailering on the thruway or highways at 70+ MPH on hot summer days. Maybe that's what my problem is!?
  21. I'm gonna go with an AMSoil product next time. My bearings have worn out super-fast in the last few years. I've had new ones installed almost every fall when i get my boat winterized. The place i take it to checks them. I do probably put 4-5,000 miles on my trailer every year. And it goes in and out of the water probably 30 times. But it just doesn't seem right.
